A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Bobo was a daughter of the late Charles "Charlie" Greenway and Leslie Dickerson Greenway and was the widow of Joseph Harold Bobo. She was a homemaker and member of New Prospect Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by four sons, Charles Robert Bobo, David Ansley Bobo, Billy Carey Bobo, and Sanford Ray Bobo. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris LeCroy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Emily Charlene Bobo Sanders, Hartwell; three sons, Harold Eugene Bobo and Harry Dean Bobo, both of Hartwell, and Delvin Lee Bobo, Anderson, S.C.; two half-sisters, Pauline Marsh, Anderson, S.C., and Aileen Hickman, Belton, S.C.; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family is at the residence. Geraldine Moore Cox Charleston, S.C. Geraldine Moore Cox, 77, died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998. A native of Pitts County, Mrs. Cox was a daughter of the late David Boyd Moore and Nancy Nipper Moore and was the widow of Bonnie N. Cox. She was a homemaker and member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church, Charleston, S.C. She was preceded in death by a son, William Stanley Cox. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery, Elberton. Sharon Fortner Royston Sharon Marie Fortner, 33, of 2678 Sandy Cross Road died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998. A native of Munich, Germany, Mrs. Fortner was a daughter of Earl and Mary Wiscount Scheib Sr. She was an assistant manager at the Kangaroo Convenience Store No. 19 in Commerce. She was a member of the Pennington Chapel United Methodist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pennington United Methodist Church with the Rev. Merritt Waters officiating. Rev. Arthur Dewitt Givens Bowman The Rev. Arthur Dewitt Givens, 50, of 165 Jackson St. died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998. A native of New York, Rev. Givens was a son of the late Arthur and Thomasine Lewis Givens Sr. He was pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Seneca, S.C., and was a member of Ruckers Grove Baptist Church, Bowman, and a veteran of World War II. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Ruckers Grove Baptist Church, Elberton, with the Revs. Robert Smith and Lloyd Craft officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Betty A. Givens; two daughters, Lashonda S. A native of Athens, Mr. Hawkes was a son of John C. and Kathleen Hawkes. He was owner and operator of D & H Rigging and was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, Lithonia. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lacena Hooper and Patsy Adams. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Lithonia, with the Rev. Murray Edwards officiating. Pelham Johnson Hartwell Pelham Johnson, 84, of 1104 West Franklin Place died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Joel and Hester Johnson and was the widower of Eula Mae Johnson. He was a member of New Hope Full Gospel Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at New Hope Full Gospel Church with the Rev. T.L. Jackson officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. John Robert Jordan was the infant son of Charles and Tammy Edmondson Jordan, San Diego, Calif., formerly of Jefferson. There will be a wake 7-8 p.m. Bob Mann Athens Bob Mann, 58, walked into the presence of his Lord and Savior on September 4, 1998, after a brave battle with cancer. A longtime resident of Athens, Mr. Mann was a son of Virginia Rhodes Mann and the late A.A. Mann, Sr. He was a graduate of Athens High School and the University of Georgia and a member of Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church. Bob had a career in sales and other endeavors and was loved by many because of his willingness to go that extra mile for others. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Marsingill and Dr. Ron Bowie officiating. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his beloved wife of 38 years, Betty Bishop Mann; daughter and son-in-law, Todd and Ginger Pierce, Baton Rouge, La.; son and special friend, Robert Mann, Atlanta, and Karen Munday, Winder; brothers, A.A. Mann Jr., Watkinsville, William C. Mann, Silver Spring, Md., J. Walter Lamar Murphy Talmo Walter Lamar Murphy, 83, of Main Street died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Murphy was a son of the late W. Scott and Lois Blackstock Murphy. He was a retired farmer, member of Talmo Baptist Church, Talmo, and was an Air Force veteran of World War II. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Talmo Baptist Church with the Revs. R.E. Davis and Bob Burnett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mildred B. Charley Henry Pierce Martin Mr. Charley Henry Pierce, age 75, of 560 Pleasant Hill Road, Martin, died early Saturday morning, Sept. 5, 1998, at Stephens County Hospital, Toccoa. Mr. Pierce was a lifelong resident of Franklin County; a son of the late Cleo and Lake Randall Pierce. He was a Beef Cattle Farmer and retired textile worker, a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Emmanual Sunday School Class, a member of the Franklin County Farm Bureau and a past member of the Franklin County Cattlemen's Association. Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Mae Pierce. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Vannon Brock Pierce, of the home, a son and daughter-in-law, James H. and Carole Pierce, Lavonia, a granddaughter, Elva Pierce and a step-granddaughter, Lindsay Rice. Funeral Services for Mr. Pierce will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Billy Owensby officiating. Charlie Marvin Taylor Toccoa Charlie Marvin Taylor, 86, of 1571 Sunshine Church Road died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Taylor was a son of the late John Harris and Irene Hemphill Taylor. He was a retired cattle and poultry farmer, a school bus driver for 27 years, and member of the Sunshine United Methodist Church. Services will be 3 p.m. today at the Sunshine United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ryan Seawright and Clyde Smith officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include five sisters, Mary Smith, Sarah Neal Mosley, Polly Seawright, and Barbara Hallford, all of Toccoa, and Joella Coker, Marietta; and two brothers, Bill Taylor and Jack Taylor, both of Toccoa.
