Batson White Plains Travis Wilford Batson, 60, of 3309 Liberty Church Road, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998. A native of Greene County, Mr. Batson was the son of the late Carl Lee Batson and the late Ruby Merritt Batson. He was married to Barbara C. Batson, and was the owner and operator of Batson Logging. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walker United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Dawn Cason of White Plains, Stefanie Batson of White Plains, and Sanda Batson of Crawfordville; three sons, Greg Batson of New York City, Scott Batson of White Plains, and Bryan Batson of Port Orange, Fla.; his stepmother, Mamie Batson of Union Point; three sisters, Carol Finch of Greensboro, Marjorie Ellenberg of Siloam, and Shirley Gentry of Athens; and four brothers, Horace Batson of Conyers, Vernon Batson of Oxford, Donald Batson of Milledgeville, and Roger West of Greensboro. Pallbearers will be Larry Webb, Ceils Merritt, Ralph Simons, Phil Robinson, Jackie Hutto, Roger West, Ronald Daughtry and Stan Humphrey. Ruby Price Athens Ruby C. Price, 64, of 325 Hancock Lane, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998 after an extended illness. Mrs. Price, a native of Savannah, was the daughter of the late George A. and Josephine Greif Pannal. She had lived in Athens since 1975 and was an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and enjoyed singing with the choir. Mrs. Price worked for many years with local real estate agencies. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Babin will officiate. Entombment will be at Athens Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mr. Doug Ard, Mr. David Fletcher, Dr. Larry Guthrie, Dr. Daryl Johnson, Mr. Bob McElrath, and Dr. Estes Reynolds. A native of Oglethorpe County, she was a daughter of the late Luke Hill and Tincie Lou Freeman Hill. She was twice married, to the late William Bailey and the late Ira Allen. She was a former machine operator for the Lavonia Manufacturing Company and was a former member of the Canon Fire Baptized Holiness Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home in Hartwell, with the Rev. Luther Kay and the Rev. Sid Newell officiating. Interment will be in the Oakview Cemetery in Canon. She is survived by three sons, Billy Bailey and Clayton Bailey of Canon and Dennis Bailey of Lavonia; three daughters, Peggy Lovelace and Emily Morgan of HArtwell and Winnie Cole of Bowersville; 14 grandchildren and 13 geat-grandchildren. William Audulewicz Ila William Victor Audulewicz, 80, of Ila died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998. A native of Detroit, he was the son of the late Victor and Mary Jerska Audulewicz and the husband of Sara Audulewicz. He was a sergeant in the Army Air Froce during World War II and was retired from Vend Inc. He was a member of Ila Baptist Church. Services will be held 11 a.m. today at Brown's Funeral Home on Albany Avenue in Danielsville, with the Rev. Mark E. Fite officiating. Interment will be in the Ila City Cemetery. A Madison County native, she was a daughter of the late Poke and Katie McKinney Coile, and the widower of the late J.B. Barton. She was a homemaker and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Pruitte Funeral Home, 47 Franklin Springs St. in Royston, with the Rev. Carl Herring and the Rev. Williard Crider officiating. Henry E. Brobston Baxley Henry Edwin Brobston, 59, of 610 S. Main St., Baxley, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998. A native of Ware County, he was a son of the late Stanley Prentiss Brobston and the late Elizabeth Lawrence Brobston and the husband of Charlotte Florence Lavender Brobston. He was a counselor for State of Georgia Rehabilitation. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, at Madison City Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Millie Brobston of Arlington, Va. and Melanie B. Bearden of Skipperville, Ala., and a brother, Stanley Heard Brobston of Baxley. Simmons Funeral Home in Madison is in charge of arrangements. Homer Burgess Toccoa Homer Wilson Burgess, 88, of Old Rock Quarry Road, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998. A son of the late William Alexander and Mariah Wilson Burgess, he was born in St. Albans, W.Va. and lived most of his life in Toccoa. A graduate of Georgia Tech and Clemson University, he taught industrial arts at Toccoa Falls for 35 years. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church, where he was also a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Richard Hawks officiating. Interment will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. The daughter of Larry Colbert of Glenndale, Md. and Hilda C. Stuckey of Macon, Colbert lived most of her life in Ila. Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Tabor Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Ila, with the Rev. Morris Colvin and the Rev. Kenneth McWhorter officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. In addition to her parents, survivors include a brother, Daryll Colbert of Glenndale, Md.; grandparents Calvin and Ella McWhorter of Ila, and several aunts, uncles and other relations. Harold J. Deal Toccoa Harold Johnson Deal, 87, of 386 Mize Road, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998. A native of Oconee County, S.C., he was a son of the late Claude and Mary Fricks Deal. He operated Deal's Superette for 10 years, and was a retired Toccoa Police Department dispatcher. Services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Don Scott and the Rev. Fred Kendrick officiating. Interment will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Macie Fulbright Deal; a son, Kenneth Jackson Deal of Hull; two granddaughters, Terri Deal Melton of Hull and Kelly Deal Parker of Danielsville, and a great-granddaughter, Bonnie Melton of Hull. Merle K. Gasaway Statham Merle K. Gasaway, 54, of Statham, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998. A native of Oconee County, he was the son of Willie Mae Long Gasaway of Statham and the late Sanders Gasaway. He was a retired marketing engineer with Georgia Power Company. He attended Truett-McConnell College and the University of Georgia. He attended Bethabara Baptist Church and was a 32nd-degree Mason. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel in Watkinsville, with the Rev. Steve Brown and the Rev. Frank Jackson officiating. Johnson of 214 Kirkwood Road N.E. died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998. A native of Clarke County, she was a member of Walker Tabernacle Baptist Church in Atlanta. Services will be held at noon today at Walker Tabernacle Baptist Church in Atlanta. Interment will be at Southview Cemetery. Survivors in addition to her widower, Charlie L. Bailey, include a daughter, April C. Bailey of Atlanta; a son, Charlie L. Bailey Jr. of Atlanta; a brother, James "Larry" Johnson of Atlanta; a sister, Jennifer Johnson of Atlanta, nieces and nephews. Bob Mann Athens Bob Mann, 58, of Athens, died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998. A long-time resident of Athens, he was a son of Virginia Rhodes Mann and the late A.A. Mann Sr. He was a graduate of Athens High School and the University of Georgia and a member of Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church. He had a career in sales and other endeavors and was loved by many because of his willingness to go that extra mile for others. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Marsingill and Dr. Ron Bowie officiating. He was retired from Daniel Construction Co., and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater. He as a member of Zebulon Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4346 and American Legion Post 104. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home in Toccoa with the Rev. Thomas Blackwell and the Rev. Marvin Moore officiating.
