Highway 441 died Friday, March 6, 1998. A native of Harlan County, Ky., Mrs. Blanton was a daughter of the late David Wallace and Bessie (Carr) Wallace. She was a homemaker and a member of the Commerce Church of God. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. John Weeber officiating. Burial will be in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson. Survivors include her husband, Walter L. Blanton; three daughters, Janice O'Donnell, Greenbriar, Tenn., Karen Pollard, Ceader Hill, Tenn., and Mildred Slyfild, Pinkey, Mich.; a son, Walter L. Blanton Jr., Nicholson; six brothers, Charles Wallace, Augusta, Edgar Wallace, Lakeland, Fla., Jack Wallace, Oveida, Fla., James Wallace, London, Ky., Jessie Wallace, Winterspring, Fla., and William Wallace, Harlan, Ky.; and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 8:30-11 a.m. Tuesday. Clyo Brannen Athens Clyo DeVaun Brannen, 62, of 110 University Circle died Saturday, March 7, 1998. A native of Lake Butler, Fla., Mr. Brannen had lived in this area for over 34 years. He was the son of the late Amos and Evelyn Hope Brannen, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Church of Christ, Athens. Mr. Brannen was retired as the only state livestock consultant with the Georgia Department of Education in the history of the state, with over 33 years of service. He was instrumental in the development of the Mobile Classroom and Laboratory, which was designed to fight agricultural illiteracy. The idea was to help urban students truly understand agriculture by showing them the actual plants and animals in a controlled environment. Mr. Brannen was very active and supportive of The Future Farmers of America and statewide 4-H clubs. Each of these clubs, with his leadership, has made great improvements in the education and awareness of agriculture. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Donny Brannen; a daughter, Ginny Brannen Shubert, Colbert; a son, Clyo Brannen Jr., Jefferson; and three grandchildren, Ashley Shubert, Candace Shubert and Tanner Shubert. William Colley Watkinsville William D. Colley, 45, died Sunday, March 8, 1998. A native of Morgan County, Mr. Colley was a son of Mary Young Colley Butler of Watkinsville and the late Sanford E. Colley. He had lived in Oconee County for most of his life. He was a retired brick mason. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville, with the Rev. Carlton Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Oconee Memorial Park. In addition to his mother, survivors include a son, Brian Colley, Watkinsville; a sister, Mary Ellen Linkous, Commerce; two brothers, Jimmy Colley, Danielsville, and Edward Colley, Monroe; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today. Margaret Dickens Union Point Margaret Lunceford Dickens, 63, of 1030 Hillcrest Drive died Sunday, March 8, 1998. A native of Greene County, Mrs. Dickens was a daughter of the late Emmett and Hazel Moody Lunceford. She was a retired finishing operator for Chipman-Union Manufacturing. Mrs. Dickens was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and the Cora Dickenson Sunday school class. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Olds and Riley Bomar officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Larry Dickens; a stepdaughter, Jan Dingler, Union Point; two sisters, Betty Lunceford, Union Point, and Patsy Duvall, Greensboro; three brothers, Olin Lunceford, Washington, William Lunceford, Madison, and Jerry Lunceford, Union Point; and two grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A native of Dumas, Ark., Mr. Hicks was a son of the late George and Rena Reed Hicks. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Gay. Mr. Hicks was twice married, first to Hazel Starrett Hicks and then to the late Mildred Louise Rowland Hicks. He was retired from the city of Winter Garden, Fla. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pruitte Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Leon Suttles officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bowman. Survivors include seven daughters, Shirley Welcher, Anderson, S.C., Janice Love, Starr, S.C., Louise Brown and Brenda Moore, both of Elberton, Diane Moore, Royston, Nancy Moore, Bowman, and Becky Phillips, Winter Garden, Fla.; three sons, Vernon Hicks, Canon, Johnny Rowland, Lockhart, Fla., and Leon Rowland, Apopka, Fla.; two sisters, Imogene Gilin, California, and Patricia Curt, Mena, Ark.; two brothers, John D. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Watson was a son of the late D.G. and Mamie Kelley Watson. He had lived all of his life in Stephens County and was retired from WABCO. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Jess Hayes Sunday school class. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Whitlock Mortuary, Toccoa, with Dr. Henry Fields officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Friar Watson; a daughter, Diana Payne, Eatonton; a son, Gene Watson, Toccoa; a sister, Bonnie Grist, Johnson City, Tenn.; a brother, Delane Watson, Fayetteville; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
