Chandler Good Hope Robert B. "Billy" Chandler, 73, died Friday, May 8, 1998. A native of Walton County, Mr. Chandler was a son of the late H. Jack and Ella Haralson Chandler. A retired farmer, he was a former director of Walton EMC and an Army veteran of World War II. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Harmony Baptist Church with Elders Willie Hatfield and Spencer Fussel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Malcom Chandler; two daughters, Sara C. Akin, Nashville, and Carol C. Johnson, Good Hope; a son, Bob Chandler, Bostwick; a sister, Eula Mae Adcock, Good Hope; four brothers, Radford Chandler, Hiram Chandler, Herman Chandler and Merrel Chandler, all of Good Hope; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hooper was a daughter of the late Charlie B. and Nora K. Poole and was widow of Clifford H. Hooper. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Hooper. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Bogart Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Randy Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Bogart Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Richard Hooper, Bogart; two sisters, Bertha Smith and Nell Shaw, both of Hartwell; two brothers, Charles Poole and Verner Poole, both of Hartwell; and two grandchildren. Bert Oettmeier Sr. Plantation, Fla. Bert William Oettmeier Sr., 68, of 6581 S.W. 20th Court died May 7, 1998. A native of Clinch County, Mr. Oettmeier was a son of the late William Merrill and Mildred Williams Oettmeier. He was a drilling and blasting contractor and a member of Fargo Methodist Church, Fargo. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hull Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Okelley was a daughter of the late Woodson and Bessie Wilbanks Chandler and was widow of Tom Okelley. She was a textile worker with Commerce Sportswear. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Maysville Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Watson and Byron Stowe officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, James "Jim" Okelley, Gainesville, and Jerry Okelley, Maysville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce. Susan Pieper Evans Susan Shelnutt Pieper, loving wife of Ron Pieper, died Thursday, May 7, 1998, at her residence. A native of Athens, Mrs. Pieper was a daughter of Ailene Shelnutt of Athens. She was a graduate of Athens High School, class of 1969. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. today at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Oconee Hill Cemetery, Athens. Survivors, in addition to her mother and her husband, include a daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Chris Brady, Toccoa; a sister, Dottie Webb, Athens; a niece, Samantha Webb, Athens; and a grandson, Brett Brady, Toccoa. Post Toccoa The Rev. Harry Wahlford Post, 88, of 941 Green Valley Drive died Thursday, May 7, 1998. A native of Chicago, the Rev. Post was a son of the late Peter and Clara Weitsma Post. He was a graduate of Nyack College and served as a missionary in Indonesia 1932-1972. He had served as interim pastor in Alliance churches in Asheboro, N.C., Moultrie and Barnesville, was a member of the advisory board of Toccoa Falls College and was a member and elder of Toccoa Alliance Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Toccoa Alliance Church with the Rev. Ferrell Towns officiating. Burial will be in Toccoa City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mary Gordon Post; two daughters, Mary Jean Snook, Northbrook, Ill., and Connie Post, Ames, Iowa; two sons, Gordon Post, Atlanta, and Bill Post, Dallas, Texas; and four grandchildren. Wells Winder Royce A. Wells, 67, of 181 James St. died Thursday, May 7, 1998. A native of Barrow County, Mr. Wells was a son of the late Andrew Tom and Lucille Churchill Wells. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 1187, Disabled American Veterans Post Georgia 1 and Barrow County Historical Society. He also served on the Winder City Council for eight years and was in the cabinet and refinishing business for 35 years. While in service he received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Wise-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. John Talley officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Bebe Daniel Wells; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Buddy Meyer, Crawford, and Susan and John Moore, Winder; a son, Carey B. Wells, Winder; two granddaughters, April Moore and Angela Moore, both of Winder; two aunts and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family is at the residence and will receive friends 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
