Haygood Elberton Lam W. Haygood, 78, of 235A College Ave. died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Haygood was a son of Annie Segars Haygood, Hartwell, and the late Russ Haygood. He was twice married, first to the late Myrtice White Haygood. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he was a retired auto body repairman and a member of West End Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell, with the Revs. Wayne Durden and Lloyd Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Church of God Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Mae Thornton Haygood; two daughters, Patsy Sanders, Hartwell, and Alice House, Elberton; three sons, Ray Haygood and Jimmy Haygood, both of Hartwell, and Fleet Bannister, Canon; two sisters, Ruth Chatham, Carnesville, and Sara Williford, Hartwell; four brothers, Donald Haygood and Jerry Haygood, both of Hartwell, and Frank Haygood and Johnny Haygood, both of Toccoa; two sisters, Ruth Chatham, Carnesville, and Sara Williford, Hartwell; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The family is at the home of Ray and Barbara Haygood, 1784 Will Bailey Road, Hartwell, and will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Linda Sisson Union Point Linda Welch Sisson, 57, of 109 McKinley Drive died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998. A native of Butts County, Mrs. Sisson was a daughter of Helen Welch, Union Point, and the late Wilson Welch. She was an assistant pre-kindergarten teacher, a correspondent for the Herald Journal, a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher of children's class 1-3 for 26 years and a member of WMU, and treasurer of the Garden Club of Union Point. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Key officiating. Burial will be in Worthville Baptist Church Cemetery, Jackson. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Henry Sisson; and a son, Jim Sisson, Union Point. Pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund. Joyce O'Neal Teskey Athens Joyce O'Neal Teskey, age 84, of Athens, Ga., Chicago, Ill., Pierre, S.D., and the Top Bar O Ranch in South Dakota, died Friday, September 4, 1998, at home in peace after suffering a stroke on July 28, 1998. Joyce is survived by sons, Thomas, of Paisley, Fla., and Robert, of Athens, Ga., and daughters, Mary, of Columbia, Md., and Dawn, now of Paisley, Fla. Grandchildren are Ann Marie and Charles Teskey, Elizabeth and Steven Hepple and Joseph and William Teskey. Born on the Top Bar O Ranch in South Dakota, Joyce graduated from Pierre High School and then from the University of Minnesota. Upon graduation she served as a social worker in Des Moines, Iowa, and Chicago, Illinois. She later changed careers and became an editor for Who's Who in America. After marrying Joseph Teskey of Chicago, she was not only a mother to her own three children, but to many from Division St. YMCA and Camp Channing as well as many foster children, the last of which was Dawn, who she later adopted and raised for 33 years. Dawn now resides in Paisley, Fla., with Thomas and his family. Joyce served her different communities, friends and family well - we will miss her. A memorial service will be held at Beech Haven Baptist Church in Athens, Ga., on Friday, September 11, 1998, at 7 p.m. As per her wishes, her ashes will be spread across the Missouri Breaks in South Dakota. Bridges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rembert Tillery Madison Rembert Boyd Tillery, 76, of 1860 Greensboro Highway died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998. A native of Fannin County, Mr. Tillery was a son of the late Ethel Evans and S.C. Tillery. He was a retired owner of Nu-Art Printers. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Madison Church of God with the Revs. Brenda Trammell and Jim Chamberlain officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Buckhead City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Fannie B. Tillery; two daughters, Jean Tillery Triplett, Madison, and Ginger Tillery Cloud, Logansville; a son, Dean Tillery, Madison; a sister, Retha Brown, Madison; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
