Beal Madison Grady Atkinson Beal, 82, of 1391 Apalachee Road died Sunday, August 9, 1998. A native of Morgan County, Mr. Beal was a son of the late Pearl Alice Pugh and Austin B. Beal. He was a dairy farmer. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Almond Cemetery with the Revs. Ralph Mabrey and Ann Nell Fletcher officiating. Survivors include two sisters, Alice Beal and Clyde Thrasher, both of Madison, and a brother, J.W. Beal, Greensboro. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Simmons Funeral Home. Benton Canady Swainsboro Benton McCowan Canady, 22, died Saturday, August 8, 1998. A native of Bibb County, Mr. Canady was a son of Carol Clary-Tapley and Larry Canady. He graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1994, was a member of the SHS Golf Team and was a 1998 graduate of the University of Georgia. He was employed by Handi House Financial, was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Swainsboro Men's Golf Association. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Sonia Sullivan and Dave Spencer officiating. Burial will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his stepmother, Regina Canady, Swainsboro; a sister, Bunny Dudley, Cartersville; two brothers, Mac Canady and Corey Canady, both of Swainsboro; paternal grandparents, Luther "Pete" and Grace Canady, Swainsboro; and step-grandparents, C.J. and Florence Bedgood, Swainsboro. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Swainsboro Men's Golf Association, members of the 1994 Swainsboro High School Golf Team and the 1994 Swainsboro High School Senior Class. Carlock Athens Timothy Lamar Carlock, 33, died Wednesday, August 6, 1998. A native of Rock Spring, Mr. Carlock was a son of Val Nahikian and Fred L. Carlock. He was a graduate of LaFayette High School and Dalton College. He served as President of the North Georgia Alzheimer's Association and a member of the Board of Directors of the North Georgia Woman's Crisis Center. He also worked as an RN in Geriatric Psychiatry. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette. The Revs. Mike Mims and Terry Fleming officiated. Burial was in Rock Spring Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his stepmother, Joan Carlock, Rock Spring; stepfather, Nick Nahikian, Haysville, N.C.; two brothers, Tom L. Carlock, Athens, and Greg L. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Clark was a daughter of the late James Milford and Annie Jewell Carter Fields and wife of John Howell Clark. She was a homemaker and member of Harmony Baptist Church. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Elmhurst Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Mulkey officiating. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sisters, Mattie Lena Eavenson, Elberton, Winifred Wingard, Bartow, Fla., and Erma Jeanne Cooper, Concord, N.C., and a brother, Carter Bailey Fields, Brandon, Fla. Survivors include his wife, Judy Cobb; two stepsons Ronald E. Watson, Kennesaw, and Shawn M. Watson, Colbert; and a sister, Ann Durham. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. today and Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. T.E. Hogan Cleveland The Rev. T.E. Hogan, 83, died Saturday, August 8, 1998. A native of Bartow County, the Rev. Hogan was a son of the late Joel Carter Hogan and Sally Ann Smith Hogan. He was ordained into the gospel ministry on Sept. 3, 1939 and pastored the following churches over a period of 59 years: Cave Spring Church of God, Cartersville Church of God, Sugar Valley Church of God, Cochran Church of God, Shannon Church of God, Cooper Heights Church of God, Demorest Church of God, and Yonah Church of God. He was a gospel music songwriter, a member of the Habersham County Ministerial Association, and a radio pastor for 35 years. He was a member of the Demorest Church of God. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Demorest Church of God with the Revs. Darvin Slaton, Gene Moore, Paul Stover, and Phil Pearson officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Opal Plunkett Hogan; three daughters, Barbara Sue York and Faye Zimmerman, both of Cornelia, and Patsy "Pat" Tapley, Chatsworth; two sons, Jimmy Hogan, Rome, and Tony Lamar Hogan, Lawrenceville; a sister, Julia Thomas, Rome; a brother, Paul L. Rosezena Lawrence White Plains Rosezena Lawrence, 79, of 1061 Hickory Lane died Wednesday, August 5, 1998. A native of Greene County, Mrs. Lawrence was a daughter of the late Zena Reid Dunn and Ed Dunn and widow of Emanuel Lawrence. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. Two children preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. James Collins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Cossingham, Long Island, N.Y., Inez Washington and Betty Dorch, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Sallie Lou Dunn, Atlanta; a brother, Willie Edd Dunn, White Plains; and 28 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 10 a.m.-8 p.m. today at Watts Funeral Home, Union Point. Ruby Wood Piercy Martin Ruby Wood Piercy, 87, of 554 Cherokee Ridge died Saturday, August 8, 1998. Mrs. Piercy was a daughter of the late Pearl Stephens and Roscoe Wood and widow of Lyman B. Piercy. She was a retired ninth-grade math teacher from the North Little Rock, Ark. school system. She was a member of Toccoa First Baptist Church and Beech Haven Baptist Church, where she was very active in church activities. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Revs. Stewart Simms and Henry Fields officiating. Burial will be Wednesday in Lakeview Cemetery, Providence, Ky. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Nancy Piercy, Zionsville, Ind.; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and the Rev. Robert Pless, Martin; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Ollie Mae Adams Venable Nicholson Ollie Mae Adams Nicholson, 83, of 1661 Sanford Road died Saturday, August 8, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Venable was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Howington Adams and widow of Carl Venable. She was a member of Nicholson Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today at Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Revs. Darrell Dale and Allen Seagraves officiating. Burial will be in Howington Cemetery.
