A native of Clarke County, Mr. Clark was a son of the late T.C. and Callie Clark. He was a cement finisher and a member of Arnold Grove Baptist Church, Arnoldsville. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Arnold Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. James Allen Jr. officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include six children, Katonia Huff and Lamon Brightwell, both of Athens, Tracey Milsap, Gainesville, Michelle McNeil and Michael McNeil, both of Dayton; and Raheem Crawford, Pittsburgh; four sisters, Mary Wade, Alice Bailey, Brenda Clark and Della Clark, all of Winterville; four brothers, James Clark, Cecil Clark and Steve Clark, all of Winterville, and Willie Smith, Athens; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. Anthony 'Tony' Ferina Carlton Anthony "Tony" Ferina, 88, of 975 Lexington-Carlton Road died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998. A native of Abbeville, La., Mr. Ferina was a son of the late Joe and Josephine Digevani Ferina. He retired from the City of New Orleans and a member of Burts United Methodist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, with the Rev. Linda Jones officiating. Burial will be in Redstone Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Edith Ferina; three stepdaughters, Annie Rose Cernik, Oklahoma City, Okla., Brenda Spratlin, Hull, and Connie DeFazio, New Auburn, Miss.; three stepsons, Robert McCannon, Brunswick, Eustace McCannon, Kiawah Island, S.C., and Roger McCannon, Elberton; a half-sister, Vioa Ferina, Melville, La.; and a half-brother, Gerald Ferina, Melville, La. Gartrell, 62, of 323 Old Skull Shoal Road died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998. A native of Washington, Mrs. Gartrell was a daughter of the late C.B. and Louise Brittain and was the widow of Clarence Gartrell. She was a member of Gibson Grove Baptist Church. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Gibson Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Roderick Bradford officiating. Burial will be in City West Cemetery. A native of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Greene was a daughter of the late Michael Thomas Irving Sr. and Mary Dominica Etcheverry "Itanzia" Irving and was the widow of John Wesley Greene. She was a Realtor and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Albany Garden Club. She was a past president of Albany Realty and while residing in Albany worked with Gallery of Home Realty and Walden and Kirkland Realty. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bernstein Funeral Home. Survivors include five daughters, Mary Michelle Greene, Highlands, N.C., Stephanie Greene Cahill, Katrina Greene, Mexico, Shannon Greene Smith, Charlotte, N.C., and Erin Greene Mejeris, Duluth; three sons, John Patrick Greene, Arlington, David Allen Green, Fort Smith, Ark., and Thomas Daniel Greene, Eastville; a sister, Yvonne Irving Schmitten, San Diego; three brothers, Michael Thomas Irving Jr., San Jose, Calif., Raymond Lloyd Irving, San Diego, Calif., and John Kelly Irving, Carlsbad, Calif.; six grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Griffeth, 63, of 1848 Bolin Road died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998. A native of Athens, Mr. Griffeth was a son of the late Alton W. Griffeth Sr. and the late Lilly Clyde Silvey Griffeth. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board for 20 years and as Chairman in 1980 and 1981. He served as Lay Leader in 1982 and 1983 and was an Adult Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Griffeth had been a member of the Fellowship of Believers Sunday School Class since 1972. Mr. Griffeth was a 1953 graduate of Athens High School in Athens, Ga., and received his AB Degree in History from the University of Georgia in Athens. He served as Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1957 until 1965. Mr. Griffeth graduated from the Augusta Law School with a Juris Doctor Degree in 1972. Mr. Griffeth was employed with the General Adjustment Bureau Inc. from 1958 until 1966 where he was an Adjuster and later Branch Manager. From 1966 until 1977 he was a Staff Adjuster with the First of Georgia Insurance Group and served later as Vice President-Claims Counsel. In 1977 he became a partner and Trial Lawyer with the Allgood and Childs Law Firm and was employed there until 1982. From 1982 until 1987 he was a Trial Lawyer in solo law practice. Mr. Griffeth was presently employed with the Fulcher, Hagler, Reed Hanks and Harper Law Firm where he was a partner and a Trial Lawyer. Mr. Griffeth practiced before the Georgia Superior Courts and all inferior courts, Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court, United States District Court, United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Griffeth was a member of the Augusta Bar Association, State Bar of Georgia, Georgia Defense Lawyers Association and Defense Research Institute. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, at Grace UMC with the Rev. Thurman W. Anderson and the Rev. Drs. James E. Hunter and John M. Younginer Jr. officiating. Kodi Lawrence Atlanta Kodi Deonte Lawrence, 3, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998. A native of Fulton County, Kodi was a son of Katrina Lawrence and Willie Mayfield. Richardson, 94, formerly of Athens, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998. A native of Moundsville, W. Va., born July 8, 1904, Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert James Richardson. She attended Allegheny College and graduated from Columbia University. She taught at the Friends School in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the University of Georgia. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, the University Garden Club and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was a homemaker. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bridges Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Reynolds, pastor of St. James UMC, officiating. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Bill Driggers, Ellenwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Judge Bob and Nancy Richardson, Perry; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew. Rosetta Smith Tocoa Rosetta Moon Smith of 649 S. Sage St. died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Moon and was the widow of Joe Lynn Smith. She was of the Baptist faith. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Cleveland Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Tyrone Scott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home. William Steedman Jr. Athens William Bancroft Steedman Jr. of 335 Fortson Drive died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998. A native of Athens, Mr. Steedman was a son of the late William B. Steedman Sr. and Billie Arthur Steedman. Mr. Steedman was a graduate of The Georgia Institute of Technology where he was a member of Chi Psi Fraternity. He was a lieutenant commander in the United States Navy during World War II. Retired from the University of Georgia, Mr. Steedman was the owner of Wm. B. Steedman & Son. He was a charter member of the Athens Country Club and the Athens City Club. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Mr. Steedman was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Cox Steedman, and survivors include his three sons, William Bancroft Steedman III of Atlanta, and John Cox Steedman and Arthur Hutchinson Steedman, both of Athens, and a sister, Martha Steedman Grainger of Pinehurst, N.C., and four grandchildren, Arthur Steedman Jr., Kelley Steedman, Ann Cox Steedman and Tayloe Steedman, all of Athens. White Bethlehem Herbert H. White, 69, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998. A native of Jackson County, Mr. White was a son of the late Winston and Ruby Borders White.
