'Frank' Allen Jefferson H. "Frank" Allen, 84, of Doster Road died Wednesday, June 10, 1998. A native of Laurens, S.C., Mr. Allen was a son of the late Claude and Maggie Goss Allen and was the widower of Mollie Loya Boyd Allen. He was preceded in death by a son, William Larry Allen. He was retired from General Motors and of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Swain Cochran officiating. Burial will be in White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Allen Goodner, Jefferson; a son, Stanley Boyd Allen, Boynton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Effie Haynes, Maryland; two brothers, Grady Allen, Covington, and Tom Allen, Lithia Springs; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mary Lou Bond Lavonia Mary Lou Holmes Bond, 75, of 218 Linton Ave. died Wednesday, June 10, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Bond was a daughter of the late Jese and Beulah Phillips Holmes. She was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, William H. "Doug" Bond; and a sister, Lily Ruth Morris, Hartwell. Tate Brookins Athens Tate Anderson Brookins, 27, of 1767 Cedar Shoals Drive died Monday, June 8, 1998. Mr. Brookins, a native of Columbus, Georgia, was the son of W. Frank and Ann R. Brookins of Athens. He was a graduate of Cedar Shoals High School where he was on the soccer and track teams. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics. He was a UGA football photography assistant manager and a member of UGA Ag Club. Mr. Brookins was employed with Sports Events Inc. and Brookins Properties, and was a member of First Baptist Church. Memorial services will be Thursday, June 11, 1998, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Dr. Jon Appleton will officiate. A native of DeKalb County, Mrs. Burns was a daughter of the late Robert Dukes and Martha May Dunaway. She was twice married, first to the late Hershel F. Rogers and second to the late Robert Hamilton Burns, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Mae Rogers, and a son, Robert Curtis Rogers. She was a homemaker and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sardis Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Vincent officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Survivors include three sons, Hershel F. She was a member of Oconee Street United Methodist Church and a supervisor for Thomas Textile Co., from which she retired in 1973. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Oconee Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Hugh Minor officiating. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
