Allen Cornelia Louis D. Allen, 88, of Henderson Street, died Monday, March 9, 1998. A native of Habersham County, Mr. Allen was a son of the late Joseph Thad and Hattie Fulbright Allen. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member and deacon of Level Grove Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Whitfield Funeral Home, Baldwin, with the Revs. Terry Rice and Bill Cockerham officiating. Burial will be in Level Grove Cemetery. Joseph Ferguson Gillsville Joseph Daniel (Danny) Ferguson, 39, of 318 McClure Road, died Tuesday, March, 10, 1998. A native of Commerce, Mr. Ferguson was a son of Robert and Mary (Holland) Ferguson of Gillsville. He was self-employed as a potter. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Midway Methodist Church with the Revs. Marshall Dale and Phil Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Cathy Ferguson; two daughters, Christy Michelle Ferguson and Sara Catherine Ferguson, both of Gillsville; a son, Joseph Daniel Ferguson, Baldwin; a sister, Darlene Tate, Gillsville; three brothers, Frank Ferguson, Commerce, and Stanley Ferguson and Willie Ferguson, both of Gillsville; and a grandmother, Lillie Mae Ferguson, Gillsville. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce. Lovie D. Johnson Athens Lovie D. Johnson, of 445 Barnett Shoals Road, died Monday, March 9, 1998. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of the late Charlie and Nannie Langford Drake and the widow of Elmer S. Johnson. She was a member of Johnson Baptist Church and retired after 50 years with Thomas Textile. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Peggy Lowe officiating. Survivors include a son, Elmer I. Johnson, Athens; a sister, Tiny Wilson, Eatonton; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family is at 1140 Daniels Bridge Road. Annie Lilly Athens Annie Grace Lilly, 77, of 115 Linda Ave., died Saturday, March 7, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Lilly was a daughter of the late Midd and Myrtis Fuller. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at East Friendship Baptist Church with the Revs. James Kendricks, Wilson Lattimore and W.H. Johnson. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Fannie Ida Pruitte Royston Fannie Ida Ford Pruitte, 88, of 445 Pine Valley Drive, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Pruitte was a daughter of the late Grover and Lois Rucker Ford and the widow of John R. Pruitte. She was an active member of Royston United Methodist Church, co-chairman of the RUMC Parsonage Committee, a member of Fellowship Sunday school class and Love Circle. She and her husband served this area as owners and operators of Pruitte Funeral Home for more than 50 years. She was active for many years in civic and community activities and was a homemaker. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Royston United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bobby Anthony, Newton Scott and Danny Barton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Walker Thurston Watkinsville Troy Walker Thurston, 32, of 1080 Pebblestone Drive, died Saturday, March 7, 1998. A native of Charlotte, N.C., Mr. Thurston was a son of George Walker and Judy Corne Thurston of Charlotte. He had attended and played football at the University of Georgia and was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Mary Jane Tingle Jackson Mary Jane Tingle died Sunday, March 8, 1998. Miss Tingle was a daughter of the late James A. and Callie Brownlee Tingle. She received a B.A. degree from Bessie Tift College, an M.A. degree from Georgia Peabody College of Teachers and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. She taught at Mary Persons High School and the Demonstration School of the University of Georgia, was initiated into Kappa Delta Pi in 1947 and was a professor at the University of Georgia until retirement in 1973. She was co-director of a 5-year curriculum program (1962), head of the language education department in the School of Education and established the Children's Literature Award and Conference (1968). Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Monroe County Memorial Chapel, Forsyth, with Dr. Dan Whitaker officiating. Burial will be private. Survivors include four nieces, Betty Gibbs, Forsyth, Peggy Scott, Vero Beach, Fla., Moira Tingle, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Bonnie C. Tingle, Newport News, Va.
