A native of Pickens County, S.C., Mr. Alexander was a son of the late William Hinsley and Eva Hutchins Alexander. He was a laborer and a member of Nicholson United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Nicholson Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. Howard Rhodes, Dennis Kesler and Melvin Greene officiating. Burial will be in Howington Cemetery. Sarah Bostwick Rutledge Sarah Ridley Bostwick, 88, of 1500 Centennial Road died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998. A native of Chatham County, Mrs. Bostwick was a daughter of the late Sarah Dickerson and the Rev. Matthew C. Banks. She was a housewife. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rutledge Methodist Church with the Rev. Bonnie Peters officiating. Burial will be in Bostwick City Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Sarah B. McHugh, Rutledge, and Martha B. Sligh, Morrow; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Simmons Funeral Home, Madison. Julia Bell Brown Athens Julia Bell Brown of 375 N. Billups St. died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998. A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Jack Huff and Beulah Williams and was the widow of Lenorad E. Brown. She was retired after 20 years as a cook for the University of Georgia Kappa Alpha Fraternity and after 14 years as a cook for the Young Women's Christian Organization (YWCO). She was a member of New Grove Baptist Church and an active member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies' Auxiliary Post 3910. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at New Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Abraham Mosley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Survivors include a son, Charles Williams, Athens; a stepson, Randolph (Mamie) Brown, Beltsville, Md.; an aunt, Lois Huff, Athens; two stepgrandsons, Kelvin and Randy Brown, both of Beltsville, Md.; three adopted grandchildren, Barbara A. Sims, Harold Sims and Michell Sims, all of Athens; two adopted great-granddaughters, Shannon and Cheylon Sims, both of Athens; and a very special goddaughter and son, Melinda (Willie) Hardwick, Chattanooga, Tenn.; and a host of relatives and friends. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Dickinson was a daughter of the late W.A. and Della Davis Cooper. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Cooper Dickinson. She was a retired restaurant worker, having worked for Katherine's Kitchen and Cooper's Drive Inn. She was a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Center United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas Thrasher officiating. Survivors include a devoted nephew, Dennis Langford, Athens; a sister, Carolyn Thurmond, Athens; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Edith Cooper, Athens; and nieces and nephews. A native of LaGrange, Mr. Green was a son of the late John William and Florence Hinkle Green. He retired from BellSouth after 42 years of service, working most of these in Georgia but with assignments in Illinois, Alaska, Florida and New York. He worked on many fund-raising projects with the Pioneer Organization, was Georgia chairman for the Library for the Blind Talking Book Repair Program and volunteered with the BellSouth Golf Classic. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of MATPARC and Union Lodge 28 F&AM. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with the Revs. Curtis Hammond and Marion Shivers officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Hewell was a daughter of the late Candler and Artie W. Mobley and was the widow of Henry H. "Snook" Hewell. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and a homemaker. A native of South Dakota, Mr. Kuhlman was a son of the late Fred and Clyde McRee Kuhlman. An Army veteran, he was retired from Champion Dairy Pak and a member of Milledge Avenue Baptist Church. A native of St. Louis, Mrs. Sherwood was a daughter of the late James Y. and Louise Stinde Martyn and was the widow of Dr. Ralph Eugene Sherwood. He was a member of King Branch Baptist Church, Carnesville, where he served in many capacities. A native of Indianapolis, Mrs. Turk had lived in Athens for the past 40 years. She was one of the first residents of Lanier Gardens, a homemaker and a member of Beech Haven Baptist Church. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at Bridges Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Stewart B. Simms Jr. officiating.
