A native of Hart County, she was a daughter of the late William Lou Hunt and Minnie Teasley Hunt and the widow of Harry J. Barton. Mrs. Barton attended Nuberg Grammar School and Athens Business College, majoring in business and accounting. She retired from Coggins Granite with 34 years of service in the accounting department. She was a former member of the Pilot Club and the Eastern Star. She was a member of Elberton First United Methodist Church and the Lena Childs Sunday school class. She and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 24, 1986, and Mr. Barton died Dec. 31, 1986. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Berry Funeral Home, Elberton, with Dr. Wallace Wheeles officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Elberton. Survivors include several local nieces and nephews including Plummer Hendrick, Jeanette Burdette, Joanne Brown, Jimmy Brown, Cecil Campbell and Roy Harper; and several out-of-town nieces and nephews. Neil Stokes Jr. Duluth Neil Augustus Stokes Jr., 81, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998. A native of Columbus, Mr. Stokes graduated from the University of Georgia and Rutgers University. He was a retired vice president of NationsBank and was a trustee of the Georgia Student Educational Fund. He was a former resident of Athens, where he was employed by NationsBank. Mr. Stokes was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be on Saturday at Clark Hill Cemetery, Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Madelyn Fletcher Stokes; a daughter, Julia Fletcher Keating, Duluth; a sister, Cornelia Bussey, Miss.; a brother, Dudley Stokes, Columbus; and a grandson.
