Cowan Jr. Washington George A. Cowan Jr., 45, of 212 Lexington Ave. died Saturday, March 7, 1998. A native of Montgomery, Ala., Mr. Cowan was a son of the late Annie P. and George A. Cowan Sr. He was a member of Twin Oak Baptist Church, employed by the Wilkes County Board of Education as a teacher at Washington-Wilkes Middle School. He was a councilman for the City of Washington and a former employee of the Clarke County Sheriff's Department and Athens Police Department. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Twin Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Maddox officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Brenda M. Cowan; a daughter, Eria Cowan, Marietta; four sons, Ryan Cowan, Washington, George Cowan, Selma, Ala., and Kenyard Cowan and Tracey Cowan, both of Montgomery, Ala; two sisters, Christene Taylor, Selma, Ala., and Gloria J. Sankey, Montgomery, Ala.; and a grandmother, Beatrice Dudley, Travares, Fla. Davenport-McLendon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Frank Ellison Jr. Athens Frank Ellison Jr., 58, of 405 Dogwood Apartments, Building 4, died Saturday, March 7, 1998. A native of Burke County, Mr. Ellison was a son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Frank (Willie Mae) Ellison Sr. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Union Temple African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church with the Rev. John Clink officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Sue Ellison; three children, Gloria E. Ellison, Franklin L. Ellison and Emanuel Ellison, all of Monroe; a stepdaughter, Kizzy Ellison, Monroe; five sisters, Alberta Lassiter, Augusta, and Clara Wise, Rosa L. A native of Union County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late Charles and Jane Plott Duncan and the widow of Emory Jones. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Lunsford was a son of Eunice Lunsford of Elberton and the late Elmer Lunsford. He was of the Methodist faith, a past member of the Georgia Army National Guard in Elberton and a sandblaster in the granite industry. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Berry Funeral Home, Elberton, with the Revs. Gary Purvis and LaVera Harper officiating. Burial will be later in Elmhurst Cemetery, Elberton.
