Linda Manley Evans, 49, of 343 Van Manley Road died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998. A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Evans was a daughter of Van Manley, Danielsville, and the late Jeanette Simpson Manley. She was a retired lieutenant with Colbert Police Department and was a longtime employee with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, with more than 20 years experience in law enforcement. She was deputy coroner with Clarke County and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, with the Rev. Tracy Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to her father, include her husband, Larry Evans; a daughter, Rhonda Del Rio, Laurel Bay, S.C.; a son, Michael Scott Williamson, Danielsville; a sister, Deborah Reese, Danielsville; two brothers, Gene Manley and Garey Manley, both of Danielsville; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Ferguson, 93, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Ferguson was a daughter of the late Foster and Sallie Vandiver Thomas and was the widow of Joe R. Ferguson. She was preceded in death by a son, Wallace Waymond Steed. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Lavonia First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hamby Funeral Home with the Revs. Richard Bielski and Larry Finger officiating. Burial will be in Bowersville Cemetery. Sara T. Whitlow, Stone Mountain; and two grandchildren, Pamela A. Palmer, Charlotte, N.C., and Richard T. Steed, Augusta. Eugene Freeman Sr. Carrollton Eugene Doyle Freeman Sr., 62, of 1227 N. Park St. died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mr. Freeman was a son of the late Buren and Mildred Smith Freeman. He was a retired manager of Carroll Finance and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Bremen, and Carrollton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7404. Ella Mae Hines Comer Ella Mae Maxwell Hines, 79, of 816 Clairmont Ave. died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Hines was a daughter of the late Jerimiah and Martha Maxwell. A native of Lumpkin County, Mrs. Holmes was a daughter of the late Elisah and Essie Norris and was the widow of Bud Holmes. She was a homemaker. Mr. Porter was a graduate of the University of Georgia and a retired businessman. He was a member of First Baptist Church and for many years an active member of the Kiwanis Club. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Sara Shull Stevens Augusta Sara S. Stevens, 91, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998. A native of Lexington, Mrs. Stevens was a daughter of the late Eugene Paul and Popie Maxwell Shull and was the widow of Sidney E. Stevens. She attended Georgia College, Milledgeville, and taught school in South Georgia for several years. She was retired after 36 years from the post office and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and Lexington Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Clark Cemetery with the Revs. Harry Warren and George Hall officiating. Survivors include two nieces, Shirin Shull Jordan, Augusta, and Jane Shull, Crawford; a great-niece, Pam Jordan Harwood, Augusta; a great-nephew, John Steven Jordan, Lincolnton; three great-great-nieces and a great-great-nephew.
