A native of Granville, Ohio, Mrs. Abney was a daughter of the late Jeremiah W. and Alice P. Ackley and widow of H.I. (Jack) Abney. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, served on the Altar Guild for more than 40 years and was a member of St. Martha's Guild and the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Guild. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Oconee Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Ard officiating. Survivors include a niece, Frances Abney Coile, Sanibel, Fla.; a nephew, George M. Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. H. Harold Benton Colbert H. Harold Benton, 87, of 112 7th Ave., died Thursday, March 12, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mr. Benton was a son of the late Dallas and Beatrice Edwards Benton. He was a member of Colbert First Baptist Church and retired from the the Georgia Center Food Service at the University of Georgia. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 44th Cavalry, Reconnaissance Squadron, and in the 11th Cavalry, Rhineland, Central Europe. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Colbert City Cemetery with the Revs. Don Fuller and John Kesler officiating. Survivors include his wife, Mamie Lou Morris Benton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janice Lunsford, Colbert, and Patricia and James Perry, Asheville, N.C.; a sister, Jeanette Jackson, Hollywood, Fla.; a brother, Monroe Benton, Goose Creek, S.C.; and two grandchildren, David Lunsford and Ellen Perry. Nathaniel Colbert Athens Nathaniel Colbert, 43, of 251 Lombardy Circle, died Monday, March 9, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mr. Colbert was a son of the late Samuel Jack and Mattie Lee Jennings Colbert. Eudora Griffin Union Point Eudora Turner Griffin, 69, of 1304 Rhodes St., died Saturday, March 7, 1998. A native of Greene County, Mrs. Griffin was a daughter of the late John and Nancy Turner and widow of Roy B. Griffin. She was preceded in death by three children, Johnny C. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late Reuben Morgan and Leila Glover Adams and the widow of Inman Martin. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Ulysses M. Sanders Jr. An Army veteran, he was retired from the Oglethorpe County school system and Harmony Blue Quarry and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
