Claude Davidson Jr., 80, died Sunday, July 12, 1998. A native of LaGrange, Mr. Davidson was a son of the late Annie McCaulley and Claude Davidson, Troup County. He was preceded in death by a son, Claude Davidson III. A 1939 graduate of the University of Georgia, he was a lieutenant colonel in the Marine Corps 1941-45, with overseas duty in the Pacific. He joined the University of Georgia faculty in 1946 and was director of news until his retirement in 1970. Upon retirement, the Davidson's moved to Helen, where Mr. Davidson spent 16 years as a city commissioner. In 1990, the Davidson's moved to Appleton, Wis., to be with their daughter. He was a member of Golden K's and First Congregational United Church of Christ, both in Appleton. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational UCC with the Rev. Jane Weeden officiating. Burial will be in First Congregational UCC's memorial garden. Survivors include his wife, Elva Morgan Davidson; and a daughter, Ellen Davidson. The family will receive friends 2-3 p.m. Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Wichmann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Addin E. Lightbody Jr. Royston Addin E. "Al" Lightbody Jr., 57, of 252 Dove Drake Road died Sunday, July 12, 1998. A native of Duval County, Fla., Mr. Lightbody was a son of the late Flossie Smith Lightbody and Addin E. Lightbody Sr. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wise-Connolly Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Joel Shadburn officiating. Survivors include his wife, Sue Lightbody; three daughters, Shirleen Gibson, Athens, and Darlene Fraze and Donna Sue Bunn, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Richard Bunn, Monroe, and Bobby Dalton, Kennesaw; a sister, Charlene White, Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 3-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Isaac Mason Jr. Buckhead Isaac Newton Mason Jr., 73, of 2680 Kingston Road died Monday, July 13, 1998. A native of Morgan County, Mr. Mason was a son of the late Julia Mooneyham and Isaac Newton Mason Sr. He was a dairy farmer. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs. Lawrence Tyson and Marvin Westbrook officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Survivors include his wife, Mary Belle Mason; a daughter, Barbara Morrell, Eatonton; five sisters, Nora Mason, Vidalia, Eddie Black and Alice Garland, both of Watkinsville, and Fannie Wilson and Mary Thompson, both of Madison; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Simmons Funeral Home, Madison. John B. Norton Atlanta John Benjamin Norton, 82, of 2911 Pharr Court South died Sunday, July 12, 1998. A native of Banks County, Mr. Norton was a son of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Vaughn Norton. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he was retired from the trucking industry and of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, with Warren Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Tates Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a sister, Mozelle Payne, Atlanta; and nieces and nephews. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dickerson, Edwards Place. Katherine Owens Athens Katherine Gentry Owens, 80, of 245 Fairway Drive died Sunday, July 12, 1998. A native of Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late O.L. and Una Alford Gentry. She was retired as secretary for the City of Athens and had worked in the mayor's office for more than 20 years. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and the Pilot Club of Athens. Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 14, 1998, 2 p.m. at Oconee Hill Cemetery. Father Ralph Marsh will officiate. Survivors include her husband, Comer L. Owens Sr.; son, Lee Owens Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, James Richard and Dyne Brownlee Owens, all of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Chuck M. Phillips of Bogart; daughter, Rebecca Owens of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Bobby Gentry of Hawkinsville, Ga.; four grandchildren and two nieces. Mr. Rooks was a son of Larry Rooks of Winder and the late Frances S. Rooks. He was an office manager at Dunahoo and Associates.
