Blackwell Clarkesville Thomas L. Blackwell Sr., 81, died Saturday, June 13, 1998. A native of Dekalb Co., Alabama, Mr. Blackwell was a son of the late James W. and Mazie Idora Adams Blackwell. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, a retired truck driver, and a member of the White Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Whitfield Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henry Loggins officiating. Burial will be in Baldwin Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Grace Sigers Blackwell; three daughters, Peggy Thorsen, Valencia, Calif., Linda Limpus, Palm Bay, Fla., and Judy Holcomb, Clarkesville; two sons, Thomas L. A native of Turner County, Mr. Hale was the son of the late John Hosey and Ella Bruce Hale. He was a cattle farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had lived in this area for thirty-three years and was of the Baptist faith. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Evergreen Memorial Park, with the Rev. Wayne Grover officiating. Survivors include his wife, Mary Hale of Athens; daughter and son-in-law Lorey and Perry Reeves, Athens; daughter Margie Ann Spearman, Athens; son Abe Lin Hale Jr., Athens; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Margaret Hale, Watkinsville; brothers O.C. Hale, Lithonia, and Glenn Hale, Griffin; five grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Georgia. Richard Lands Athens Richard Lands, 55, of 290 Sandstone Drive, died Sunday, June 14, 1998. A native of Toccoa, Mr. Lands was a son of Joseph James and Ruby Dover Lands. He was a 1965 graduate of Princeton University and a retired Major with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Lands was a member of the Chamber Singers and attended Central Presbyterian Church where he was a member of the choir. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Lands attended LaVerne Cooking School in Paris. He was Culinary Producer of the Natalie Dupree Cooking Show and was editor of her cookbooks and recipes. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Central Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Hunter Coleman officiating. Burial will be at 5 p.m. in Toccoa Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two uncles and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a farmer and a member and deacon of Antioch Christian Church. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today at Antioch Christian Church, with the Rev. David Perkins officiating. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Sheridan was a retired postman and a U.S. Air Force World War II veteran. He was a son of the late Lee and Sally Hooper Sheridan. Mr. Sheridan was preceded in death by a son, Tim Sheridan. He was a member of Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion, Post 185. Mr. Sheridan was of the Methodist faith.
