Bishop Watkinsville Harrell R. Bishop, 83, also of Holly Hill, Fla., died Monday, March 16, 1998. A native of Greene County, Georgia, Mr. Bishop was a son of the late Mozelle and Thad Bishop. He was a past member and deacon of Watkinsville First Baptist Church. Mr. Bishop attended and played football for Stetson University. A dairyman and cattle farmer all of his life, he passed away Monday on his farm in Watkinsville. He was a past president of the Oconee County Farm Bureau and was elected Farmer of the Year in the 1960s in Oconee County. He was a founding stockholder in Oconee State Bank and from 1960-1968 owned and operated a cattle farm in Oconee County. In 1968, he and his wife retired and returned to the Daytona Beach Area. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Watkinsville First Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be at the church immediately following the services. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, at First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Fla. In addition to his wife, Kathleen Summerlin Bishop, he leaves a heritage of four children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His children and their spouses include Kay and Gene Shepard, the late Radford Bishop, Billy and Sandy Bishop, and Bobby and Mary Lou Bishop. His grandchildren and their spouses include Lauren and Mike Melton, Stephen and Michelle Shepard, Blair and Jimmy Charles, Kerry Shepard, Meredith Bishop, Greer Bishop, Robert Bishop, Scott Bishop and Luke Bishop. His great-grandchildren include Connor Shepard, Sydney Shepard, J.R. Charles, L.E. Charles and Susannah Melton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Watkinsville First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Scholarship Fund for the Watkinsville Regional Campus of Truett-McConnell College. Lord & Stephens Funeral Home West, Bogart, is in charge of local arrangements. Battista Giannoni Elberton Battista Giannoni, 87, formerly of 1396 Washington Highway, died Sunday, March 15, 1998. A native of Windsor County, Vt., Mr. Giannoni was a son of the late Fernando and Angelina Bianchi Giannoni and widower of Hilda Hulme Giannoni. He was a retired stone cutter and a member of Elberton First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hicks Funeral Home with the Revs. Gary Purvis and Kevin Wade officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Angelina G. Taylor, Chamblee; and a sister, Julia Zaini, Mezuski, Italy. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Lee Roy Gossitt Hull Lee Roy Gossitt, 50, of 156 Garnett Webb Road, died Sunday, March 15, 1998. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Gossitt was a son of Nancy Louise Kitchens Gossitt of Hull and the late Roy Felton Gossitt. He was an Air Force veteran and employed at Reliance Electric. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Luther Fouche officiating. Burial will be private. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two sisters, Betty Albright, Snellville, and Linda Giles, Hull; a brother, Richard Gossett, Madison County; and two nieces and a nephew. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Margie Huey Athens Margie Lou Huey, 43, of McNutt Creek Drive, died Sunday, March 15, 1998. A native of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Huey was a daughter of the late Charles and Violet Morris Clark. A registered nurse, she had worked at St. Mary's Hospital for many years and was most recently employed by the Walton County Medical Center in Monroe. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and received her nursing degree in 1984. She was an active American Red Cross volunteer and began the Disaster Exercise Visual Assistance Team to allow medical personnel to maintain proficiency in training. Funeral services will be Wednesday at Angwins Funeral Home, Birmingham. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. A native of Stewart County, Sgt. Maj. Ledbetter was a son of the late Thomas Vert and Freddie Dale Bennett Ledbetter. He was an Army veteran retired from military service and a member of Bowersville Baptist Church. Private memorial services will be later. Survivors include his wife, Colleen M. Carter Ledbetter; a daughter, Janice McDaniel, Lavonia; two sons, Michael Ledbetter, Huntsville, Ala., and Christopher Ledbetter, Athens; five brothers, Harold Lee Ledbetter, Bennie Fred Ledbetter and Arnold Ledbetter, all of Winder, Richard Ledbetter, North Carolina, and Thomas Vert Ledbetter Jr., Hephzibah; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A native of Buford, Mr. Roebuck was a son of the late David Amacus and Flora Cain Roebuck. He had retired as the owner of Dixie Elevator Co. in Atlanta. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, where he was active in the Pairs and Spares Senior Club. Taylor, who died May 5, 1981. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Robbins, and a son, Roy Taylor. She was a member of East Athens Baptist Church.
