A native of Oconee County, S.C., Mr. Chastain was a son of Ruby Nell Wood Chastain and the late Joe Chastain. He was employed in the van conversion industry with C and H Motors. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Culpepper was a daughter of the late Freeman and Amy Frances Thomason Ayers and the widow of Hoke Smith Culpepper. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Lina Francis and Sandra Ruth. Mrs. Culpepper was a homemaker and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Cartee Jordan Athens William Cartee Jordan, 99, formerly of 224 DuBose Ave. died Friday, May 15, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mr. Jordan was a son of the late Howard Lee and Elizabeth Simmons Jordan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Ida Strickland Jordan, and a son, Ben Howard Jordan. Mr. Jordan was the owner and founder of Jordan's Auto Service, which he began operating in 1925 and continued to operate until his retirement in 1969. He loved music, and in his younger years played the harmonica and served as emcee of a band known as the Bernstein Better Built Furniture Boys, featured on radio station WTFI, now known as WGAU. He was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Bridges Funeral Home with the Revs. Ray Austin and Bill Ricketts officiating.
