Jones Commerce Marvin Lewis Jones, 56, of Cordele, formerly of Commerce, died Sunday Nov. 15, 1998. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Jones was a son of Mary E. Moon Jones, Commerce, and the late John L. Jones. He was district manager for Security Finance Corp., Cordele, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with Rev. Dennis Wilbanks officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Audrey Jones, Cordele; two stepdaughters, Virginia Sizemore and Donna L. Trapnell, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepson, Timothy L. Williams, Jacksonville, Fla.; three brothers, Mike Jones, Winder, and Ray Jones and Roy Jones, both of Commerce; three sisters, Linda Brake, Commerce, Carolyn Kitchens, Jefferson, and Nancy Wilbanks, Mims, Fla; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family at the residence of Mary E. Moon Jones, 55 Baxter Road, and will receive friends at Little-Ward Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Dusty Maddox Winder Dustin "Dusty" Maddox, 75, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998. A native of Alabama, Mr. Maddox was a son of Mrs. L.A. Beckett. He was a retired salesman and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winder. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home with Rev. John Talley and Dr. Tal DuVall officiating. Survivors include his wife, Doris Maddox, Winder; two daughters, Marty M. Fincher and Lenni M. Hicks; his mother, one brother, Bobby Beckett; one sister, Nova M. Swint; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Winder or the American Cancer Society. Mary L.S. Patton Ashburn Mary L.S. Patton, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998. A longtime resident of Winder before moving to Ashburn in 1995, Mrs. Patton was a daughter of the late Otis Lee Spinks and Minnie Griffith Spinks and was the widow of Robert E. Patton. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Maynard. Services were Monday morning at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Wynton Lee officiating. Burial was at Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a son, Charles Patton of Hawkinsville; two daughters, Jimmie Ann Ward and Sue Barber, both of Ashburn; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 'Junior' Sanders Hartwell William Homer "Junior" Sanders, 77, of 1448 Beacon Light Road, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mr. Sanders was a son of the late Effie Mae Cleveland and William Homer Sanders Sr. and the widower of Eleanor Vickery Sanders. He was a retired carpenter and a former employee of Monroe Auto Equipment Co., and as a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Sanders. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Strickland Funeral Home with the Revs. Wayne Durden, Ted Kelly and Joe Black officiating. Burial will be in Nancy Hart Memorial Park. Survivors include one son, Larry E. Sanders of Hartwell; two daughters, Alice Cobb, Bowersville, and Jeanette Marett, Hartwell; three sisters, Mildred Dove, Royston, Faye Green, Athens, and Clevie Bowers, Hartwell; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family is at the residence of Larry E. Sanders, 1342 Beacon Light Road, and will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. William J. Shults Winder William Joseph Shults, 87, of Covington, formerly of Winder, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998. A native of Winder, Mr. Shults was a son of the late Leeland and Mary P. Shults and widower of Ruth Mills Shults. He was a retired railroad electrician. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Gooss. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Anthony's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Katherine Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Wallace and Suellen Franze, both of Winder, Betsy Rieke, Covington, and Joyce Adams, Bethlehem; two sisters, Betty Knight and Joyce Ramel, both of Louisville, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Episcopal Church. Bessie Walton Athens Bessie Walton, 86, of 145 Second St., died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998. A native of Wilkes County, Mrs. Walton was a daughter of the late George and Hortense Chennault and widow of Ralph Walton. She was a member of Thankful Baptist Church, Lincolnton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Thankful Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.S. Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Survivors include one daughter, Jerlene Hunter, Athens; one son, Rosevelt Walton, Athens; 14 grandchildren, five of whom were raised in the home and two who still live in the home, Larry Hunter and Robert Hunter; 36 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family is at the residence. Mack & Payne Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Jewell Worley Bethlehem Jewell Worley, 83, died Monday Nov. 16, 1998. A daughter of the the late Zenous and Lizzie Boswell, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winder and had worked as a child-care worker. Services will be 3:30 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Deaton officiating. Entombment will be at Barrow Memorial Gardens. Survivors include one son, John Worley, Winder; one daughter, Betty Sims, Bethlehem; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
