She was a housewife and a member of the American Cancer Society, the Women's Auxiliary of the Fairplay Fire Department and the Prospect Cemetery Committee. A native of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Mrs. Horan was a daughter of the late Richard and Helen Keenan Toomey. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances W. Hood. She was one of the first female buyers for Saks Fifth Avenue, New York. She conducted her own radio program "Fashions With Fran." Later on she created School Classics Inc., where she designed and manufactured school uniforms for private and parochial schools. Fondly referred by the school children as "the uniform lady," she retired to West Palm Beach, Fla., in 1970 where she was a volunteer for St. Mary's Hospital and was a docent at the Flagler Museum and the Hibel Museum. She also was a parishioner at St. Mary's Church in Chelmsford, Ma. Survivors include her husband, James W. Horan, Natick; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan W. and Gordon Gibbons, Paget, East Bermuda; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph W. and Irene Horan, Wellesley; a son-in-law, Stephen E. A native and lifelong resident of Oconee County, Mr. Murrow was a son of the late Henry Thomas and Jewell Johns Murrow. He founded Murrow Brothers in 1937 and was a founding member of Georgia Crop Improvement Association. He was a past member of Oconee County Board of Education, State ASCS Committee and past president of Georgia Cotton Ginners Association. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a past officer of American Legion. He was a member of Farmington Methodist Church where he had served as a steward.
