A native of Gainesville, Mrs. Adams was a daughter of the late Arlow and Fannie Lee West Mathis and was the widow of Garnett Lee Adams. She was a poultry worker at Mar Jac. Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Jack Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include ten daughters, Patricia Adams, Pearly Bryant, Minnie Lee Sorrows and Ida Bell Sears, all of Commerce, Jennie Dempsey, Sarah Martin, Lucy Ogden and Ruby Watson, all of Gainesville, Willie Mae Farmer, Pendergrass, and Sara Ann Shores, Jasper; two sons, J.C. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Earnie H. Austin Jefferson Earnie H. Austin, 40, of Galilee Church Road died Thursday, July 16, 1998. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Austin was a son of Doris Freeman Austin of Winder and the late Ernest H. Austin Sr. He was a Department of Corrections training officer and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Charles J. Harper officiating. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Carrie Austin; a daughter, Katie Elizabeth Austin, Jefferson; two sons, Charles Lee Austin and Joshua Grant Austin, both of Jefferson; a brother, Tim Austin, Winder; and nieces and nephews. Frank Bolton Carlton Frank Nick Bolton died Thursday, July 16, 1998. Mr. Bolton was a son of the late Nick and Mary Goolsby Bolton. Phelps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Billy Chatoney Athens Billy Henry Chatoney, 67, of 650 Belvoir Heights died Thursday, July 16, 1998. A native of Hollyknowe, Miss., Mr. Chatoney was a son of the late Fritz and Lillie Mae Sweatt Chatoney. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Chatoney, Jack Chatoney and Fritz Chatoney. He was retired from the military after serving in the Army in Korea and during two tours of Vietnam. He was a retired manager of the University of Georgia Physical Plant and currently employed with McDonald's on Broad Street. He was a member of Bogart First Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2872. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 1998, at Bogart First Baptist Church with the Rev. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Echols was a daughter of the late John T. and Idella Smith Wise and was the widow of John Arthur Nichols. She was a member of Quitman First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, and retired after 40 years as a bookkeeper with Quitman Bank. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Harmony Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Marian Stubbs, Perry; a son, John A. Echols, Milton, Fla.; three sisters, Faye Dalton, Baldwin, and Pauline Mize and Edith King, both of Greenville, S.C.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A native of Mercer County, Mrs. Linkous was a daughter of the late Bernard Benjamin and Leona Florence Crews Pettry and was the widow of Clarence Linkous Jr. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudette Linkous. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, a Gideon, a Dial-A-Prayer board member and a proclam minister. A native of Caroll County, Mr. Thompson was a son of the late Wood and Pearl Taylor Thompson. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired painting contractor and a charter member of Elberton Lions Club. He was a member and the oldest deacon of Northside Baptist Church.
