Gadell, 84, a resident of Magnolia Estates, 1641 Virgil Langford Road died Thursday night, Oct. 15, 1998. Born in Oconee County, Mrs. Gadell was a daughter of the late Robert Franklin and Katie Lee Norris Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Michael Gadell. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Maxeys, Ga., in the late '30s, later in Oconee County, and for more than 25 years in the Athens-Clarke County schools. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church of Athens and former Chairman of the Board. She remained active in church and civic activities until failing health recently. She accumulated more than 2,800 hours of reading and monitoring of textbooks at the Athens unit of Recording for the Blind. Services will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Lord & Stephens West Chapel on Jimmie Daniels Road, with the Rev. Ray Austin officiating. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Diane Gadell, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Patrick and Alane Gadell of Conyers, Ga.; two grandchildren, Susan G. DeKeersgieter, Bloomington, Ill., and Jeffery Gadell, U.S. Army, Germany; a sister, Ruth Erb, Valley, Ala.; two brothers, L.H. Christian, Athens, and Billy Christian, Memphis, Tenn.; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Iris Lanum; and three brothers, Curtis, Larry and Felton Christian. The family will receive friends at 2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Dessie Garrett Carnesville Dessie Lynch Pritchett Garrett, 79, of 14265 Old Federal Road died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Garrett was a daughter of the late Grover and Martha Dalton Lynch, was twice married, first to the late Kieffer Pritchett and then to the late Frank Garrett, and was preceded in death by two sons, Fred Pritchett and Ronnie Pritchett. She was of the Methodist faith. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, with the Revs. Ronnie Head and Norman Wampfler officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Hooper was a son of Trudie Christian Hooper and the late Arthur Lester and was the widower of Ellie Anchors Hooper. He worked for the Athens Police Department for seven years and retired from Clarke County. He was a member of Milledge Avenue Baptist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home East, Athens, with the Rev. Dr. Edward Bolen and the Rev. Elmer Butler officiating. Burial will be in Hooper Family Cemetery. Osborne Hartwell Frances Harper Osborne, 62, of 762 Reed Creek School Road died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998. A native of Anderson County, S.C., Mrs. Osborne was a daughter of the late George and Clara Burdette Harper. She was a retired registered nurse for Hart County Hospital, and a former nursing home administrator and director of nursing. She was a member and past president of the Hartwell Pilot Club, a member of the board of directors for Hart County Association of Retarded Citizens and Reed Creek Baptist Church, where she was active in the Golden Agers and W.M.U. Services will be 3 p.m. today at Reed Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Ted Kelley, Luther Kay, and J.R. Irwin officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband, William Ray Osborne; and two daughters, Karen Osborne Irwin and Ronda Osborne, both of Hartwell. The family is at the residence. A native of Banks County, Mr. Phillips was a son of the late Jewel and Maude Wilson Phillips. He was a retired inspector with a baseball bat manufacturing company. James Michael Riddling Bogart James Michael Riddling, 45, of 1960 McNutt Creek Drive died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Riddling was a son of James "Bill" and Joan Hardeman Riddling. He was self-employed. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. A native of Tift County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Noble Claudia Lee and Emma Addison Smith York and the widower of Eleanor Smith. He was a retired civil engineer, member of Union Local No. 36, a mason, and member of Liberty Baptist Church, Carnesville. A native of Etowah, Tenn., Mr. Williams was a son of the late Paul N. and Blanche Cole Williams. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, was owner and operator of Williams Tire Co. for 26 years, and was a member of Cornelia Christian Church.
