Arnold, 93, of 1660 Jennings Mill Road, formerly of Washington, died Friday, April 17, 1998. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Arnold was a son of the late Randall Jones and Ella Peek Arnold. He was a longtime resident of Washington, where he was a 50-year member and Past Worshipful Master of LaFayette Lodge #23 F&AM and a member of Washington Presbyterian Church. Mr. Arnold had made his home in Rayle from 1946 until 1982 and was the owner and operator of Rayle Electric Company. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Rest Haven Cemetery, Washington, with the Revs. Stan Sizemore and Jim Bolton officiating. Survivors include his wife, Lizzie T. Arnold; two daughters, Beatrice Mixon, Athens, and Rose Simmons, Macon; and four grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of LaFayette Lodge #23. Pauline Bond ElbertonPauline Morris Bond, 98, of 11 Church Hill Road died Friday, April 17, 1998. A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Bond was a daughter of the late Carey Whitfield Morris and Sally Tomlinson Morris and widow of Thomas O. Bond Sr. She was preceded in death by four sons, Clinton C. Bond, Raymond C. Bond, Thomas O. Bond Jr. and Horace A. Bond. Mrs. Bond was retired from Almar Manufacturing Company. She was a homemaker and a member of Eliam United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Berry Funeral Home, Elberton, with the Revs. Lloyd Shepherd and Dan Rice officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel "E" Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Childs, Elberton, and Jo Ella Hanvey, Hartwell; a son, Arthur B. Bond, Spring Hill, Fla.; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Flowers are optional. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Cooper was a son of James J. Cooper of Bethlehem and the late Jacqueline Cook Cooper. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Kelly Brisendine officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Jeptha Fortson Athens Jeptha M. Fortson, 68, of 195 Barrow St. died Friday, April 17, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mr. Fortson lived in the Athens area for most of his life. He was the founder/owner of Fortson Plumbing and Heating Company. Mr. Fortson founded the company in 1959 and operated it up until his retirement in 1992. He was of the Assembly of God faith. Private graveside services will be on Monday in Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Virginia S. Fortson; three daughters, Jane Hinton, Lula, Jean Wright, Winder, and Joan Conley, Athens; a sister, Eleanor Boyd, Spring Lake, N.C.; a brother, Cecil Fortson, Athens; and three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Bernstein Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today. Harry Hemphill Jr. Ila Harry Edward Hemphill Jr., 50, of 1148 Sunray Hatchery Road died Saturday, April 18, 1998. A native of Chatham County, Mr. Hemphill was a son of Harry Edward Sr. and Gertie Griffin Hemphill. He was a salesman for Ryan Hart Equipment in Rome and was in the U.S. Army Reserves. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ila Baptist Church. Burial will be in Weaverville, N.C. A native of Terre Haute, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Clem A. Smith and Mary Coffey Smith. The widow of Joseph Henry, she was previously married to Charles L. Hopper. She was a retired special education teacher and a member of Lawrence Chapter 384 OES. The remains were cremated,and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Jones, 86, of 960 Hawthorne Ave. died Thursday, April 16, 1998. A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late Albert S. and France Cochran Eberhart. She was a graduate of LaGrange College, a retired kindergarten director and a member of First Christian Church, Cumming. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bernstein Funeral Home with the Rev. Rob Raynor officiating. Survivors include her husband, Glen B.
