Hunter Batten, 86, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998. A native of Hanna City, Ill. Mrs. Batten was a daughter of the late Dougal Hunter and Sadie Thrush Hunter and was the widow of Webster Batten. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Batten; and a grandson, Michael Batten. She was a homemaker and was a member of Noblesville Senior Citizens Organization. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Peoria, Ill. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Batten Dickey, Carmel, Ind; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Jewel F. Futch Deaton Hickory, N.C. Jewel Florence Futch Deaton, 79, of 28th Ave. Drive, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998. A native of Hartford, Conn. Mrs. Deaton was a daughter of the late Freeman H. and Adelaide Colvin Futch and was the widow of the Rev. T. Paul Deaton. She was a graduate of Alachua High School and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. She worked as a secretary in Discipleship Training Department of Florida Baptist Convention. She served at numerous churches as a church pianist, choir member, director of Sunday school intermediate department, director of Discipleship Training Program and a teacher of Sunday School and Discipleship Training. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Local services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Hickory, N.C., with the Rev. Jeff Bowden officiating. Morgan Athens Laurin Claude Morgan, 75, of 265 Tallassee Road, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, after an extended illness. A native of Athens, Mr. Morgan was a son of the late Eddie Lee and Alma Lucille Lavender Morgan. He was a courier for the University of Georgia Athletic Association for 12 years and was a member of Good News Christian Church, Watkinsville.
