A native of Franklin County, Mr. Baskins was a son of Daisy McCollum Baskins of Canon and the late William Ellis Baskins. He was a carpenter and of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pruitte Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Eldon Massey and Leon Suttles officiating. Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a brothers Paul Ed Baskins, Canon. Pallbearers will be Larry McCollum, Ricky Baskins, Ferrell Baskins, Wesley Baskins, Harmon Bennett and Ray Outz. Charles William Berry died Monday, April 20, 1998. A native of Crawford, Maj. Berry graduated from the University of Georgia and was commissioned in 1938 as a 2nd Lt. in the Army. He served in World War II and Korea, and retired from the Army and civil service at Redstone Arsenal. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Huntsville Memory Gardens with the Rev. Mel Strain officiating. An Army veteran of World War II, he was the retired owner of Brewer Grocery and a member of Statham First Baptist Church. 'Preacher' Carey Winterville Deacon Joseph "Preacher" Carey of 1015 Dunlap Road died Saturday, April 18, 1998. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Carey was preceded in death by a daughter, Mattie Perrimon, and a granddaughter, Gwendolyn Stephens Austin.
