A native of Crawfordville, Mrs. Bacon was a daughter of Minnie Warren, Commerce, and was the widow of Carey Bacon. She was retired from Mar-Jac Poultry, Gainesville. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at New Faith Methodist Church with the Rev. Willie Frank Pattman officiating. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include two daughters, Shelia Butler and Audrey Hester, both of Commerce; a granddaughter, four grandsons, two great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons. Mason Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pauline Brown Siloam Pauline Brown, 77, of 1160 Syrup Mill Road died Friday, July 18, 1998. A native of Greene County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Peter and Anna Smith and was the widow of James Brown. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Revs. Eugene Atwaters, J.B. Blair and John Douglas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Survivors include a son, R.L. Thornton, Atlanta; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A wake is scheduled for 7:30-8:30 p.m. today at Watts Funeral Home, Union Point. Jonah Chapman Canon Jonah Chapman, 84, of 81 Kenneth Norris Road died Thursday, July 23, 1998. A native of Pike County, Ky., Mr. Chapman was a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Mary Elizabeth Smith Chapman. He was a retired coal miner having served as vice president and treasurer of the United Mine Workers Local 5737. He was a committee member on the UMW Safety Board, a member of the UMW Rescue Squad, a UMW representative in Washington, D.C., and a member of the Moose Club of Williamson, W. Va. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pruitte Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Paul Creason officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Springs City Cemetery. She was a retired school teacher with Greene County Schools and Nathanael Greene Academy and a member of First Baptist Church of Greensboro, Greensboro Garden Club, Greensboro Woman's Club, Greensboro Historical Society and Georgia Association of Educators.
