A native of Jackson County, Mr. Dailey was a son of the late N.E. and Eula (Coleman) Dailey and widower of Grace Wilbanks Dailey. He was retired from Lockheed and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Revs. Brad Wilson and Henry Webb officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens. Survivors include two brothers, Coleman Dailey, Nicholson, and John H. Dailey, Tucker. The family will receive friends at Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, from 7-9 p.m. today. James Dillard Hull James E. Dillard, 67, of 123 Dillard Road died Sunday, May 24, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mr. Dillard was a son of Susie Pauline Dillard of Athens and the late Edgar E. Dillard. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Dillard. Mr. Dillard was a Chartered life underwriter serving in both local and state boards of life underwriters. He had served Independent Life & Accident Insurance Company continuously for 47 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Dillard was consistently rated as a top producer in sales for Independent Life and had been awarded numerous company and insurance industry citations and awards. He had served as president of three local life underwriter associations in Monroe, Decatur, Ala., and Athens. He had also served as president of the Georgia Association of Life Underwriters and vice president of the Alabama Association of Life Underwriters. Mr. Dillard was a member of Beech Haven Baptist Church and a Baptist-ordained Deacon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bernstein Funeral Home with the Revs. Rick Tapp and Luther Fouche officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Joyce McCune Dillard; a daughter, Kelly D. Burroughs, Little Rock, Ark.; three sons, John B. Dillard, Winterville, Greg Dillard, Winder, and Correll Dillard, Buford; three sisters, Evelyn Carlton and Nira Haggard, both of Athens, and Sue Dempsey, Elkin, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Justin Dillard and Brett Dillard, both of Winterville, Anna Marie Dillard, Winder, and Jess Burroughs and Lauren Burroughs, both of Little Rock, Ark. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today. Helen Fukushima Athens Helen Y. Fukushima, 76, of 305 Clover St. died Thursday, May 21, 1998. A native of Minneapolis, Minn., Miss Fukushima was a daughter of Toyoko Kawabata of Japan and the late Iwao Fukushima. She had made her home in Athens since 1971. She was a retired cytologist with St. Mary's Hospital, and was a member of Young Harris Methodist Church and the Pilot Club of Athens. Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. today at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop John Fowler officiating. In addition to her mother, survivors include two sisters, Edith Kimura, Pearl City, Hawaii, and Mieko Oishi, Randolph, N.J. Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, is in charge of arrangements. Hubert Gaines Toccoa Hubert Lonnie Gaines, 70, of 125 Irene St. died Saturday, May 23, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Gaines was a son of the late William and Lilly Jordan Gaines. He had lived in Rome for a number of years, and had lived in Toccoa for the past 10 years. Mr. Gaines was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rock Quarry Holiness Church, with the Revs. Edward Hood and Jewell Gaines officiating. Burial will be in the Martin Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Palmer, Toccoa; three sons, Lonnie Gaines, Miss., Tim Gaines, Gainesville, and Gene Gaines, Athens; and five sisters, Lola Simpson and Katherine Lamey, both of Toccoa, Louise Dean Ray, Hartwell, Monlee Ivester, Clinton, S.C., and Ann Love, Marietta. Mae Frances Jordan Athens Mae Frances Jordan, 50, of 150 King Circle died Friday, May 22, 1998. She was a daughter of the late Curtis and Willie Mae Hunter. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Poplar Springs Church Cemetery with the Rev. Howard Mack officiating. Survivors include two sons, Stacy Bailey and Jeffery Bailey, both of Athens; and three sisters, Mary Moon, Bobbie Lay, and Mae Ella Kinney, all of Jefferson. The family will receive friends at Forestglen Mortuary from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. today. Earl Massey Toccoa Earl Massey, 84, of 478 Davis Ave. died Saturday, May 23, 1998. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Massey was a son of the late Ab and Rilla Thomas Massey. He spent the greater part of this life in Toccoa and Stephens County. Mr. Massey was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Grove Chapel Holiness Church, Winterville, with the Revs. Robert Magness, Gene Pritchett and Ricky Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon today. Survivors include his wife, Irene Callaway Massey; three stepsons, William Gabriel Jr., Lexington, Randy Gabriel, Colbert, and Greg Gabriel, Toccoa; a sister, Pearl Haddock, Toccoa; two brothers, Arnold Massey, Toccoa, and Hubert Massey, Atlanta; and five stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Shirley Mincey Elberton Shirley Adams Mincey, 62, of 1572 Hartwell Highway died Sunday, May 24, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Mincey was a daughter of the late James Dillard and Martha Estelle Adams and widow of Charles Edward Mincey. She was retired from Elberton Manufacturing Co. Mrs. Mincey was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Berry Funeral Home, Elberton, with the Rev. Don Mulkey officiating. Burial will be in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is at the residence. Susan Prows Jacksonville, Fla. Susan Hill Prows, 50, died Thursday, May 21, 1998. A native of Auburn, Ala., Mrs. Prows was a daughter of Mildred G. Hill of Auburn, Ala., and the late A.J. Hill. She was a graduate of Auburn University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham and was retired from the Florida Department of Education Division of Blind Services. 'Billy' Vassar Jr., 63, of 45 Walnut St. died Sunday, May 24, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mr. Vassar was a son of William S. Vassar Sr. of Hartwell and the late Grace Temple Vassar. He was retired from Orr Mills, where he was a supervisor in the weaving department. He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. She was a machine operator for Monroe Auto Equipment Company and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple, Starr, S.C.
