A native of Jackson County, he was a son of the late James L. Doster and Lula Roberts Doster and the widower of Rosella Pollard Doster. He was a farmer and a member of White Plains Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Bill Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce McWherter, Durham, N.C.; two sons, Billy Doster, Jefferson, and Jimmy Doster, Concord, N.C.; and six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Hazel Hale Rome Hazel Anthony Hale, 83, of 3301 Garden Lakes Parkway, formerly of Watkinsville, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998. A native of High Shoals, Mrs. Hale was a daughter of the late Elmer Anthony and Jewell Lanier Anthony and the widow of Sam Tribble Hale. She attended high school in Anniston, Ala., where she was an all-state basketball player, and attended Decatur College in Decatur, Ala. She played music for many churches in North Georgia through the years, including the church where her father ministered. She was a member of First Christian Church, Rome. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Daniel's Funeral Home with the Rev. Hoy Ledbetter officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens, with the Rev. Joe Bennett officiating. Survivors include two daughters, Eleanor Robison, Rome, and Tribby McQuaig, Perry; two sisters, Lucille Betts and Elma McGuire, both of Watkinsville; and five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30-3 p.m. today. Leslie A. Hanson Athens Well-known Athens musician Leslie Adams Hanson Sr., 76, of 145 Beverly Drive died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998. Born in Athens and educated in the Athens schools and the University of Georgia, Mr. Hanson was the youngest son of Elford LaFayette Hanson Sr. and Latimer Cartey Hanson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Junia Hanson Hale, and two brothers, Paul E. Hanson and Elford L. Hanson Jr. Outside of his love for his family, his great love was for his music. He began playing the violin at the age of 6 and was multi-talented to play and perform with many musical instruments, chief ones of which were the vibraharp, violin, bass violin, piano, mandolin and guitar. He began to play professionally at the age of 11 on radio station WTFI, the forerunner of WGAU. He played with a band that was sponsored by a local furniture company. While serving in the medical corps during World War II, Mr. Hanson also played in the 83rd General Hospital band while stationed at Camp White in Medford, Ore., prior to serving in the armed forces in Europe. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Revs. John E. Parker and Ralph Mabry officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Highway 22, Crawford. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sarah "Sally" Wright Hanson; a son, Leslie Hanson Jr., Statham; a daughter-in-law, Pam Wilbanks Hanson, Statham; two nieces, Virginia Crawford, Athens, and June Ehlers, Dahlonega; a nephew, LaFayette Hanson III, Lilburn; and a sister-in-law, Ophelia Hanson, Snellville. Mrs. Hutto was a daughter of the late Judge David Clayton and Anna Balcolm Halstead and the widow of William Bruce Hutto Sr. She was a retired school teacher in Barrow County and a member of the First Baptist Church. Charles Johnson Union City Robert Charles Johnson, 38, of 5153 High Point Road died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998. A native of Fulton County, he was a son of Charles Lee and Hilda Annette King Johnson of Rayle. He was a mechanic and of the Baptist faith. Ray McCall Canon Ray Mack McCall, 77, of 3766 New Franklin Church Road died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998. A native of Franklin County, he was a son of the late Hubert Clarence and Madge May Gable McCall. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathy McCall. He was twice married, first to the late Rachel Macomson McCall and then to Marjorie Mitchell McCall. Mr. McCall was a retired farmer, a textile worker with 18 years of service at Collins and Aikman Co., and was associated with Franklin Memorial Gardens for 15 years. He was a member of New Franklin Christian Church. He was a Mason; his fraternal affiliations included Lavonia Lodge No. 241, Free and Accepted Masons, and Fred E. Lee Chapter No. 86, Royal Arch Masons. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hamby-Weldon Funeral Home, Lavonia, with the Revs. Willis Lumpkin and Wilson officiating. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Parham was a daughter of the late Burrus A. and Anna Patton Holcomb and the widow of Collier H. Parham. She was preceded in death by a son, Hugh E. Parham.
