Boswell Thomson Jane A. Boswell, 73, of 1515 Wrightsboro Road died Friday, July 24, 1998. A native of McDuffie County, Mrs. Boswell was a retired teacher and was a graduate of Brenau College and the University of Georgia. She was a member of Thomson Presbyterian Church and taught the toddlers Sunday school class for more than 20 years. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Thomson Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Brent Turner officiating. Burial will be in Penfield Cemetery, Penfield. Survivors include her husband, Robert M. Boswell Jr.; a daughter, Mary Langham, Thomson; a son, Robert M. Boswell III, Athens; a sister, Frances Fokes, Tallahassee, Fla.; and five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Jack Allen, Bob Wilson Sr., Ken Usry, Bob Knox Jr., J.T. Wiley and Jimmy Kennedy. Memorials may be made to Thomson Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at the residence or at Curtis Funeral Home. Ruth S. Childers Florahome, Fla. Ruth Sturdivant Childers, 89, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at the Palatka Health Care Center, Palatka, Fla., following a long illness. She was born in Grandin, Fla., and had been a longtime resident of Putnam County, Fla., having lived in Grandin and Florahome. She had served as Postmaster of the Florahome Post Office. She had been a member of the First Church of God in Florahome for more than 50 years and had served there as a Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer. She was an honorary member of the Florahome-Grandin Volunteer Fire Department. Her favorite pastime was helping other people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Childers and one grandson, Curtis Sturdivant. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Walter Whitaker of Arnoldsville, Georgia; three sons and daughters-in-law, Walter L. and Ruth Sturdivant, Lawrence A. and Lillian Sturdivant, and Harry and Janet Childers, all of Florahome, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. Mrs. Childers' funeral services were held Friday, July 24, 1998 at the First Church of God in Florahome with Pastor Hence Allen and Pastor Michael Hicks officiating. Burial followed in the Putnam Cemetery in Grandin. Donations may be sent to the First Church of God, P.O. Box 55, Florahome, Fla. 32140. Masters Funeral Home of Palatka was in charge of arrangements. William A. Collings Winder William A. Collings, 69, died Friday, July 24, 1998. A native of Philadelphia, Penn., Mr. Collings was a son of the late Edward and Ann Marie MacGrority Collings. He was married to the late Mrs. Mary Jane Welsh Collings and was of the Catholic faith. He was a former resident of Grand Rapids, N.C., and was employed with Gene & Matt Ford Tractor in Winder. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Carter-Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Victor Reyes officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Marybella Kaul, Winder; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Catherine S. Duggar Watkinsville Catherine S. Duggar, 83, died Friday, July 24, 1998. A native of Bryan County, Mrs. Duggar was a daughter of the late Wade Shuman and Frances Davis Shuman. She was married to the late Woodrow W. Duggar and was preceded in death by a son, James R. Duggar. She was a retired homemaker and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Hillcrest Abbey, West, Savannah, with the Rev. Kent Reynolds officiating. Survivors include a son, Glenn Duggar, Watkinsville; and four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel is in charge of arrangements. James E. Lackey Athens James Edward Lackey, 56, died Thursday, July 23, 1998. A native of Walton County, Mr. Lackey was a farmer for many years. Friends and family are asked to assemble at 12:45 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Annie Louise Lackey; three daughters, Jacquelyn Butler, Bogart, Eula Anderson, Athens, and Terrion Hill, Monroe; two sisters, Shirley Giles, Decatur, and Peggy Lackey, Monroe; five brothers, Johnny Lackey, Athens, Billy Lackey, Stone Mountain, Norris Lackey and Harrison Lackey, both of Decatur, and Mcarthur Lackey, Atlanta; and eight grandchildren. Willis W. Thomason Carnesville Willis Wilhite "Shank" Thomason, 65, of 1700 Payne Road died Friday, July 24, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Thomason was a son of the late Jim and Minnie Payne Thomason. He had worked in the logging industry for 35 years and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Childress officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Janette Westmoreland Thomason; a daughter, Janet Lynn Watkins, Lula; a son, James Terrell Thomason, Carnesville; three sisters, Mildred Murray, Carnesville, Joett Duffell, Salisbury, N.C., and Catherine Cheek, Toccoa; a brother, David Thomason, Toccoa; and six grandchildren. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Turpin was a son of Morene Jordan Turpin Sokol of Hartwell and the late Clyde Vernon Turpin Sr. He was a retired auto salesman, a member of Ducks Unlimited, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Bowersville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell, with the Rev. Dennis Coley officiating. Burial will be in the Bowersville City Cemetery.
