She was a daughter of the late Curtis and Willie Mae Hunter. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Poplar Springs Church Cemetery with the Rev. Howard Mack officiating. Survivors include two sons, Stacy Bailey and Jeffery Bailey, both of Athens; and three sisters, Mary Moon, Bobbie Lay, and Mae Ella Kinney, all of Jefferson. James Dillard Hull James E. Dillard, 67, of 123 Dillard Road died Sunday, May 24, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mr. Dillard was a son of Susie Pauline Dillard of Athens and the late Edgar E. Dillard. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Dillard. Mr. Dillard was a Chartered life underwriter serving in both local and state boards of life underwriters. He had served Independent Life & Accident Insurance Company continuously for 47 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Dillard was consistently rated as a top producer in sales for Independent Life and had been awarded numerous company and insurance industry citations and awards. He had served as president of three local life underwriter associations in Monroe, Decatur, Ala., and Athens. He had also served as president of the Georgia Association of Life Underwriters and vice president of the Alabama Association of Life Underwriters. Mr. Dillard was a member of Beech Haven Baptist Church and a Baptist-ordained deacon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Bernstein Funeral Home with the Revs. Rick Tapp and Luther Fouche officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Joyce McCune Dillard; a daughter, Kelly D. Burroughs, Little Rock, Ark.; three sons, John B. Dillard, Winterville, Greg Dillard, Winder, and Correll Dillard, Buford; three sisters, Evelyn Carlton and Nira Haggard, both of Athens, and Sue Dempsey, Elkin, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Justin Dillard and Brett Dillard, both of Winterville, Anna Marie Dillard, Winder, and Jess Burroughs and Lauren Burroughs, both of Little Rock, Ark. Pallbearers will be James McClain, CLU, George Dobbs, Kenneth Copeland, Herman Allen, Milton Broome, Bob Hale, Doug Tatum, Gerald Thompson and Mike Lacey. Eberhardt Athens Luther Pope Eberhardt, 74, of 494 Clover St. died Monday, May 25, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mr. Eberhardt was a son of the late Alexander Hamilton Stephens and Sara Ella Eberhardt. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Eberhardt was owner of Lowe's Dry Cleaners in Crawford for several years and was a member of Carlton Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carlton Baptist Church. Burial will be in Carlton Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Becky Eberhardt Tapley, Lexington; a son, Steve Eberhardt, Gainesville; three sisters, Carolyn Wright, Carlton, Martha Towns, Athens, and Nita Mitchum, Hannahan, S.C.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. A native of Madison County, Mr. Rice was a son of the late Will Rice and Essie Bone Rice. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sonya K. Rice. A veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, Mr. Rice was retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Oconee Heights Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bernstein Funeral Home with the Revs. Crist Camden, Howard Conine and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Bernstein Funeral Home. James W. Sanders Greensboro James William Sanders, 74, of 2610 Bowden Pond Road died Sunday, May 24, 1998. A native of Greene County, Mr. Sanders was a son of the late Ammie McKinley and Julian William Sanders. He was the owner and operator of a poultry and beef cattle farm. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, and was a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau, Georgia Cattlemen's Association and First United Methodist Church of Greensboro. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at McCommons Chapel, Greensboro with the Rev. Richard Chewning officiating. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery, Siloam. Survivors include his wife, Nell Amoss Sanders; a daughter, Elizabeth Holley Harbin, Big Bear City, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth S. Wilson, Tucker; two nieces and a nephew. Pallbearers will be David Thompson, Mike Underwood, Billy Ashley, Duck Channell, Dean Channell and Stephen Daniell.
