A native of Banks County, Mr. Broner was a son of the late John and Pauline Griffin Broner. He was a retired owner of a construction and trucking company. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home, Toccoa, with the Rev. Oliver Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Mary Scott Broner; five daughters, Brenda Broner, Patricia Brown, Dorothy Edmonds, Frankie Mattox and Teresa Brown; three sons, Michael Broner, Richard Broner, and Johnny Broner; and 10 grandchildren. Edith G. Escoe Athens Edith G. Escoe, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998. A native of Lafayette, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. Golden and Bessie Golden Havelka and was the widow of Robert Lee Payne and Edgar Escoe. She was a breeder of English bulldogs and a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints. Graveside services will be noon Friday at Oconee Memorial Park, Watkinsville, with Bishop Jeff Morrow officiating. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy G. Combs, Watkinsville, and Nora Lynn Chambers, Nicholson; two sons, Robert Payne, Athens, and Richard Payne, Tifton; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville, is in charge of arrangements. William A. Glenn Athens William A. Glenn, 89, of 387 Ashton Drive, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Glenn was a son of the late Walter Langlin and Mary Rebecca Nickles. He was a retired from Northwest Mutual Insurance Co. and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Underwriters Association of Athens, Elks Club and Lions Club. He attended Madison A&M and was a member of First Christian Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bridges Funeral Home with the Revs. Ray Austin and W. Russel Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Doughtery St., Athens GA 30603. Charles S. Kay Lavonia Charles S. Kay died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998. A native of Lavonia, Mr. Kay was a son of the late Sam and Nettie Lee Kay and widower of Juanita Steiner Kay. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. McLeroy Bogart Mattie D. McLeroy, 94, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998. A native of Walton County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Clark and Lonah Cook Dickinson and was the widow of Homer McLeroy. She was a 1924 graduate of the state Normal School and a 1961 graduate of the University of Georgia. She taught school in Oconee County for 10 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Bogart. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in Bogart with the Revs. Randy Strickland and Bill Hayes officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Otis Oglesby Royston Otis Oglesby, 86, of 415 Winn St., died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998. A native of Bowman, Mr. Oglesby was a son of the late Jasper and Emma Oglesby. Page Athens Harry Collin Page, 93, of 1660 Jennings Mill Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998. A native of Sullivan, Mo., Mr. Page was a son of Olive and Harvey Barnard Page. He was preceded in death by one son, Dr. Robert W. Page. He attended the University of Missouri at Rolla, Union College, and George Washington University School of Law. He was a retired chief patent counsel lawyer for Clevite Corp., Cleveland, Ohio. His hobbies included woodcarving, furniture-making and camellia culture. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1065 Gaines School Road. Harry D. Peck Jr. Marietta Dr. Harry Dowd Peck Jr., 71, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998. A native of Middletown, Conn., Dr. Peck was the former head of the biochemistry department at the University of Georgia. He was a son of the late Aner and Harry Dowd Peck Sr. He was educated in Middletown and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received bachelor of science and master's degrees in microbiology from Wesleyan College, Middletown, Conn., and his doctorate from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. He did post-graduate work in biochemistry at Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, and studied at the Rockefeller Institute, New York City. Dr. Peck came to the University of Georgia as head of the biochemistry department in 1965, and did research in Marseilles, France, and published more than 150 research papers. He stepped down as department head in 1992 and did research until 1994, when he retired. In 1994, the state Board of Regents named him professor emeritus of biochemistry. Private services will be held. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Wood Peck, Marietta; one daughter, Karen Peck McDonald, Nashville, Tenn.; one son, David Carver Peck, Athens; one sister, Aner Naruk, Saybrook, Conn.; three stepsons, Michael Crosby, Smyrna, Jeffrey Crosby, Woodstock, and Ryan Crosby, Lakewood, Colo.; one grandson; and four step-grandchildren. A native of Washington County, Mr. Price was a son of the late Gordon and Eunie Marshall Price. He was a dairyman and member of Mallorysville Baptist Church. A native of Comer, Mrs. Rowe was a daughter of the late Styles and Minnie Carrington Evans and was the widow of Malcolm Rowe. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Athens, and the Rose and Dahlia Garden Club. Sanders Bowersville Lillie Bailey Sanders, 87, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Sanders was a daughter of the late Sam L. and Lena McLane Bailey and widow of Clemie G. Sanders. She was a retired postmistress for the Bowersville Post Office. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school, was Sunday school secretary and was active in the Woman's Missionary Society. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Coleman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. She is survived by one daughter, Emily Gunnells, Hartwell; one son, Sammy H. She was employed by Georgia Baptist Assembly and was a member of Toms Creed Baptist Church, the Ladies WMU and the Lucille Sunday school class. A native of Habersham County, Mr. Stroud was a son of the late Willis "Bill" and Floda Carroll Stroud and was the widower of Lettie Pearl Stroud. Mary Lou Wilkins Athens Mary Lou Miller Wilkins, 92, of 425 Milledge Circle, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998. A native of Paducah, Ky., Mrs. Wilkins was a daughter of the late Arthur Lyman and Mattie Scarboro Miller and was the widow of N.W. Wilkins. She was the organizing president of the Thomasville chapter of the 17th Century, a member of the Daughter of Founders and Patriots of America, where she served as state president and national historian, and a member of Mayflower Decedents of Georgia, James Oglethorpe chapter of the Daughters of American Colonists and Magna Charta Dames. She was a member of Athens First Baptist Church. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Westview Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Miller officiating. Survivors include nieces and nephews. Mary Wright Greensboro Mary Wright, 53, of 1291 Thompson Road, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998. A native of Greene County, Mrs. Wright was a daughter of Willie L. and Melba Merritt, Greensboro. She worked for Gold Kist for 30 years and was a member of Boswell Chapel Baptist Church, the church senior choir and the church Dress Committee and Mother Board. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Boswell Baptist Church with the Rev. Grady Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
