A native of Stephens County, Mr. Ayers was a son of Ruth Dalrymple Ayers and the late James Carlton "Pete" Ayers. He was a graduate of the Georgia School for the Deaf and employed in the poultry industry. He was a Baptist. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Tommy Childress officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a son, Barry Freeman Ayers, Cave Springs; a sister, Vickie Ayers Pitts, Toccoa; a grandfather, Esco Dalrymple, Toccoa; and a niece. Pallbearer will be Steve Rollins, Scott Rollins, Stanley Rollins, Darrel Smith, Jeff Holland and David Canady. The family is at the home of Esco Dalrymple, Highway 320, and will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the mortuary. George Boehmer Portland, Ore. George Robert Boehmer, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998. A native of Portland, Mr. Boehmer worked at the University of Portland as coordinator of special projects in public relations and information services. He retired from the Western Wood Products Association in 1978 and had worked as a book reviewer for the Oregon Journal and as an assistant editor for Northwest Living Magazine. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. An Army Air Forces veteran having served from 1942 to 1945, he received a European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and a Distinguished Unit Badge. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. today followed by memorial mass at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. David Sherrer officiating. Private burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Gabrielle Huys Boehmer; three sons, Francis Gerard Boehmer, Forest Grove, Ore., Robert George Boehmer, Athens, and Gabriel Huys Boehmer, Portland; and five grandchildren. Zeller Chapel of the Roses is in charge of arrangements. John Brown Bowman John Emory Brown, 85, of 1202 Fork Creek Road died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Brown was a son of the late Grady Brown and Addie Cryder Brown. He was preceded in death by a grandson raised in the home, Dwayne Brown. He was retired from the pulpwood industry and was of the Baptist faith. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Deep Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Wayne Barger and Tim Adams officiating. Irvin, a dedicated wife, mother and teacher who loved children and taught in the City of Atlanta and DeKalb County schools until her retirement in 1996 due to health problems, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women, did graduate work at Emory and Georgia State and received a masters in education from Mercer University. She was an active member of Clairmont Presbyterian Church for many years. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Howlett "Hal" Irvin of Decatur, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Donna Irvin of Snellville, Ga., and J. Hal and Nancy Irvin of Norcoss, Ga.; mother, Mrs. Fenida Bell of Elberton, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Ira E. Bell Jr. and Sara Bell of Morganton, N.C., and Dr. Nelms L. Bell and Doris Bell of Athens, Ga.; and grandchildren, Lindsey Michelle Irvin and Richard Grant Irvin. A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Lawson was a daughter of the late Bennie and Essie McLendon and was the widow of Oscar Lawson. She was preceded in death by four children, Dorothy, Joe, Virginia and Lucy. She was a member of The Greater Level Hill Baptist Church.
