A native of Madison County, Mrs. Carithers was a daughter of the late George T. and Hattie Craig Hawkes and widow of James Roper Carithers. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Colbert Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Colbert Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Cemetery. Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Scoggins and Mary Reid, both of Colbert; and nieces and nephews. Ionno II, 42, formerly of Athens, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998. A native of Bridgeport, Conn., Mr. Ionno was a son of Dr. Joseph A. and Julie Soltis Ionno of Hanover, N.H. He was an accomplished keyboardist who played professionally with Dr. Hook, a radio personality with WMOQ in Athens and had recently relocated to Lamoine to host a show with WMDI in Bar Harbour, Maine. He had written opinion columns for several Athens publications over the years. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, West Hartford, Conn. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Conn. A native of Banks County, Mr. Jordan was a son of the late Floyd Greene and Hattie Barton Jordan. He was an Army veteran, served as a medic in World War II, was a retired farmer and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Shackelford was a member of the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church for more than 50 years and was a Sunday school teacher. She served as president of the Women's Department of the Union Middle River Association for eight years, was a member of the Aquarius Chapter of the Eastern Star and served with the Stephens County Missionary Workshop. She was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Smith, and two brothers, Jack W. Vaughn and C.J. Vaughn. James Strickland Danielsville James Howard Strickland, 82, also of Vero Beach, Fla., died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998. A native of Hart County, Mr. Strickland was a son of the late Buford and Esther McGarity Strickland. His identical twin brother Edward Strickland preceded him in death Jan. 24, 1998. He was a retired cattle and poultry farmer and an antique dealer. A veteran of World War II, he received a Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Performance of Duty in the European Theatre of Battle. He was a former member of the Woodmen of the World and American Legion, a charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Danielsville and a member of Danielsville Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Danielsville Cemetery with the Revs. Hilton Purvis and Mike Hudman officiating. The family will meet at Brown Funeral Home at noon.
