Bennett Bowman Jimmy Odell Bennett, 63, of 2021 Bennett Road died Saturday, July 25, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Bennett was a son of the late Jep and Myrt Pierce Bennett. He was owner and operator of the Mini Burger restaurant in Bowman for 18 years and was a retired truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hillcrest Cemetery with the Revs. Mike Sullivan and Sammy Cutshall officiating. Survivors include his wife, Malvine Jordan Bennett; two daughters, Becky Johanson, Dewy Rose, and Janet Reagin, Nickville; four sons, Mike Bennett, Hartwell, and Odell Bennett, Gary Bennett, and Donnie Bennett, all of Bowman; a brother, Roger Bennett, Bowman; and 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Gerald Parham, Billy Cook, Clarence Garner, Tom Booth, Frank Landreth, and Marshall Pulliam. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Pruitte Funeral Home, Royston. The family is at the home of Donnie and Mischelle Bennett, 2219 Rehoboth Road, Bowman. Eleanor I. Candis Athens Eleanor Irene Candis, 80, of 298 Hollow Ridge Drive died Friday, July 24, 1998. A native of Green County, Mrs. Candis was a daughter of the late Richard Reid and Rachel Walton Reid. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 2275 Simpson Road, North West, Atlanta, with the Rev. Abraham Mosley officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Survivors include a daughter, Valeria White, Athens; a son, Frederick J. Candis, Atlanta; three sisters, Emma L. Jackson and Leola Jackson, both of Greensboro, and Gladys Smith, Atlanta; and seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. Jackson-McWhorter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Catherine S. Duggar Watkinsville Catherine S. Duggar, 83, died Friday, July 24, 1998. A native of Bryan County, Mrs. Duggar was a daughter of the late Wade Shuman and Frances Davis Shuman. Widow of Woodrow W. Duggar, she was also preceded in death by a son, James R. Duggar. She was a retired homemaker and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Hillcrest Abbey, West, Savannah, with the Rev. Kent Reynolds officiating. Survivors include a son, Glenn Duggar, Watkinsville; and four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Clara Sorrells Gould Athens Clara Sorrells Gould, 91, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Gould was a daughter of the late William Richard and Cora Campbell Sorrells and widow of William Sulzer Gould. She was a retired sales lady in Athens department stores. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ila Presbyterian Church cemetery with the Rev. Stuart Lang officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ann Barrett, Franklin, N.C.; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bridges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. William C. Nehring Hoschton William Carl "Buddy" Nehring, 61, of 195 Rouse Road died Saturday, July 25, 1998. A native of Carroll County, Mr. Nehring was a son of the late Lester Carl and Ida Faye Nehring. He was a maintenance engineer and was a mason and a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Robin Self officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Fork Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Frances Evans Nehring; a daughter, Leslie C. Nehring, Hoschton; a sister, Martha Caron, Jaffrey, N.H.; and a brother, David N. Nehring, Pensacola, Fla. Power Commerce Genie Carrie Whitfield Power, 86, of 711 Ga. Hwy. 63 died Saturday, July 25, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Power was a daughter of the late William and Launa Sellers Whitfield and widow of William Guy Power. She was a homemaker and a member of New Salem United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at New Salem United Methodist Church, Hwy. 59, with the Revs. Gerry Davis and Luis Ortiz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Martha Wilkinson, Commerce; two sons, David Power, Cornelia, and Phil Power, Homer; a sister, Ruth Hix, Commerce; a brother, Pierce Whitfield, Greer, S.C.; and 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
