Banks of 283 Morris Gardiner Road died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998. A native of Georgia, Mrs. Banks was a daughter of the late Morris and Ada Parker Gardiner. She was a secretary for Romper Pump Co., Commerce, and a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Homer. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph O. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Kendra Banks, Flowery Branch; a brother, Roy Gardiner, Lula; a sister, Patsy Smith, Maysville; a niece and two nephews. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements. Gussie Mae Bolton Gussie Mae Bolton, 56, of 777 McCannon-Morris Road died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Bolton was a daughter of Myrtha Sorrells, Hull, and the late Clarence Sorrells Sr. and was the widow of Charlie Bolton Sr. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Good Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. C.M. Hawkins and Jasper McDaniel officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Sims Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include two daughters, Sandra Sorrells, Athens, and Angela Sorrells, Hull; three sons, Kevin Sorrells, Athens, and Charlie Bolton Jr. and Larry Jermayne Bolton, both of Hull; two sisters, Laverne Anderson and Ruby Sims, both of Hull; six brothers, Clinton Sorrells, Clarence Sorrells Jr., Marion Sorrells, Larry Sorrells and Hershel Sorrells, all of Hull, and George A. Dakai, 35, of 490 Old Commerce Road died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. A native of Framingham, Mass., Mr. Dakai was employed with Eaton Corporation Quality Control. There will be no services. Survivors include his wife, Janice Gorski Dakai, Boston; three sisters, Kathy Dakai and Barbara Huseby, both of Seattle, and Maggie Morrelle, Hudson, Mass.; four brothers, Jack Dakai and Timothy Dakai, both of Houston, Steven Dakai, Las Vegas, and Ken Dakai, Framingham, Mass.; and nieces and nephews. Bridges Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Clyde David Commerce Clyde David, 85, of 682 Tarynham Road died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998. A native of Jackson County, Mr. David was self-employed as a plumber for many years. He was an Army veteran and a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Jones Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. J.B. Knuckles officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mason's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ellen Hanks Covington Ellen Kent Hanks, 76, died of cancer Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospice facility in Athens. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Guy C. and Janie Estelle Pass Kent, and her brother, Ralph C. Kent. She was the widow of Fred Aubrey Hanks and is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Madison H. Briscoe, and nephews, Duke P. Briscoe and Barry K. Briscoe, all of Athens, and numerous friends. Mrs. Hanks was born in Lexington, Ga. She graduated from Meson Academy and attended Athens Business College. She retired from a longtime career with Southern Bell in 1975, and afterward worked as a Red Cross certified patient sitter and most recently as a marketing representative. She was a longtime member of the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club and Telephone Pioneers of America. She was deeply interested in nature and wildlife, and enjoyed traveling worldwide. She did volunteer work as a reading mentor to children in the 1950s. Her friends will remember her generous and caring nature. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Athens Technical Foundation, 800 U.S. Highway 29 North, Athens, Ga. 30601, noting on the check that it is for the Ellen Kent Hanks Nursing Scholarship. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens with Pastor Buford Lockman officiating. Boyd Limmer Sarasota, Fla. Boyd Arthur Limmer, 80, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998. A native of Naper, Neb., Mr. Limmer was the retired owner of Limmer Electric in Sarasota, Fla., for more than 35 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as aviation machinist mate in the Panama Canal Zone. He was a charter member of the Melbourne, Fla., Lions Club and the Sarasota Lions Club with a 57-year perfect attendance record. He was a past president of the Sarasota Lions Club and past deputy district governor of District 35 of Florida. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Toale Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial with military honors will be at 1:30 p.m. in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Survivors include two daughters, Leigh L. Holland, Athens, and Nance L. Guth, Sarasota; three brothers, Warren McNulty, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Clifford McNulty, Melbourne, and Howard McNulty, Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Warthia Kelley Carlton Warthia Gantt Kelley, 91, of 1276 Watson Mill Road died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998. Mrs. Kelley was the widow of O.B. ''Buck'' Kelley and was preceded in death by a son, Otis B. Kelley, and a stepson, O.D. Kelley. She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she had serve on the Mother's Board for many years. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Gantt officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Morris, 65, of 125 Willowby Place died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Morris was a son of the late Jerry and Maude Goss Morris.
