Mary Oma Joiner Allison Toccoa Mary Oma Joiner Allison, 87, of 6256 Rose Lane died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1998. A native of Athens, Mrs. Allison was a daughter of the late John Henry and Bessie Lee Carter Joiner and widow of Rufus Allison. She was preceded in death by a son, Shelton Allison. She was a retired nurse, a member of First United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Emma Vickery Sunday School Class. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Whitlock Mortuary. Survivors include a daughter, Syble Hunt, Toccoa; a son, Robert J. Allison; and two grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Tom Cheek Royston Tom Cheek, 74, of 3760 Wildcat Bridge Road died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998. A native of Madison County, Mr. Cheek was a son of the late Harvey and Hila Elliott Cheek. He was a retired serviceman having worked in the poultry industry, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, former Chief of the Harrison Volunteer Fire Dept., and of the Holiness faith. Services will be 2 p.m. today at New Bethel Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. Kenneth Vanderford and Bruce Kesler officiating. A native of Hart County, Mrs. Drake was a daughter of the late John Thomas Wilson and Molly Craft Wilson and widow of Joe L. Drake. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Franci Drake. Otha Pruitt Toccoa Otha Pruitt, 74, of 4608 Hwy. 184 died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Pruitt was a son of the late Henry and Vassie Bellamy Pruitt. He retired as owner and operator of Pruitt Mill End Carpet Co. and Currahee Mountain Antiques. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of First Methodist Church, Toccoa, Masonic Lodge 309, Toccoa Shrine Club, Yaarab Temple, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4346, and the American Legion Post 104. Services will be 4 p.m. today at Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Revs. Bob Partridge and Jack Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Smith, 81, of 6060 Jordan Road died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998. A native of Stephens County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late John A. and Arizona Hicks Smith and widower of Ruth Roberts Smith. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Smith. He had worked for Martin Lumber Co. for a number of years and was a member of Toms Creek Baptist Church.
