Cordell Elberton Obie G. Cordell, 77, of 68 College Ave. died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Cordell was a son of the late George T. and Hassie Hewell Cordell. He was a farmer and a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Deep Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Clark officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Survivors include a sister, Mary Denney, Dewy Rose; three nieces, Rosalyn Neal, Elberton, and Lynda Phillips and Karen Fleming, both of Dewy Rose; and two nephews, Donnie Cordell, Dewy Rose, and Darrell Booth, Bowman. Pallbearers will be David Phillips, Richard Brown, Mark Neal, Doug Booth, Milton Neal and Jon Jarvis. The family members are at their respective homes. Nannie Denard Tignall Nannie Bobo Denard, 84, of 974 Sandtown Road died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998. A native of Wilkes County, Mrs. Denard was a daughter of the late James Willie and Lou Belle Wilkinson Bobo and the widow of Albert L. Denard Sr. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Garvin Denard Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of Tignall Baptist Church, Tignall Baptist WMU and Tignall Homemakers Club. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tignall Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Fincher officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Jo-Anne Danner, Tignall; three sons, Albert Denard Jr., Abilene, Texas, and Ralph "Coot" Denard and Everette Denard, both of Tignall; a sister, Emmie Bobo, Washington; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Eure Roduco, N.C. Dixie Hoffler Eure, 73, of Highway 158 died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998. A native of Gates County, Mrs. Eure was a daughter of the late J.C. and Pennie Collins Hoffler. She was a retired clerk of the Hertford County ASCS office and a member of Eure Christian Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Eure Christian Church with the Rev. Wayne Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Gatesville Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Lankford R. Eure Sr.; a daughter, Beverly Eure Sosbee, Athens; a son, Lankford R. Ionno II, 42, formerly of Athens, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, in Lamoine Maine. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., on June 26, 1955, he was the beloved third son of of Dr. Joseph A. and Julie Soltis Ionno of Hanover, N.H. Joseph was an accomplished keyboardist who played professionally with Dr. Hook. Besides his music, he was a radio personality with WMOQ in Athens, had recently relocated to Lamoine to host a show with WMDI in Bar Harbour, Maine, and had written opinion columns for several Athens publications over the years. His show and writings reflected a key interest and concern for local politics emphasizing environmental and criminal justice issues. Joseph was a caring and gentle soul and will be sorely missed by his family even as he journeys into the next world. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. today at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, Conn. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Conn. Besides his parents, he leaves three brothers and a sister, David and his wife, Frances, of Hartford, Mark and his wife, Joan, of Bloomfield, and Matthew of Athens, and Juliane of Hartford. He was a loving uncle to Sabra, Renee, Cassandra, Linnea, Luke, Peter and Mary. Joseph also leaves behind Laura Harmon of Lamoine, Maine, and a large and dear family of cousins, aunt, uncles and many friends. Irene Clester Moss, 81, formerly of Winterville, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998. A native of Webster County, Mo., Mrs. Moss was the widow of Lee Jackson "Jack" Moss. A former longtime resident of Winterville, she was a member of Winterville First Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star, Athens Chapter 268. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home East, Athens, with Dr. Rick Standard officiating. Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery, Cannon. Survivors include a son, Mell Moss, Fort Smith, Ark.; a sister, Joanne Poole, Springfield, Mo.; and a brother, Bob Crawford, Hollister, Mo. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. William Van Landingham III Columbus, Ohio William Samuel Van Landingham III, 18, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998 . William was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam L. Van Landingham of Columbus. He was a senior at Bexley High School with plans to attend Wright State University. At high school he participated in the environmental club, Amnesty International and Net Master. He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, where he worked with the Junior and Senior Youth Groups, and was an active participant in the annual Christian work camps, which took him to all areas of the country. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Bexley, with the Rev. Timothy O. Carberry officiating. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, John Hammond Taylor, Columbus; two grandmothers, Mrs. Strauder L. Van Landingham, Arlington, Va., and Loretta V.
