Ozroe Cargile Madison Ozroe "Buck" Cargile, 85, of 1041 Antioch Baptist Church Road died Tuesday, April 28, 1998. A native of Newton County, Mr. Cargile was a son of the late Ollie Maude Evans and William Alvin Cargile and was the widower of Ruth Hawkins Cargile. He was a plumber and an electrician. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Godfrey Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Dale officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Survivors include a son, Billy Cargile, Madison; a sister, Bessie Whitaker, Mansfield; a grandson and two nephews. Simmons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mary Colbert Royston Mary Ella Harris Colbert, 84, of 40 Tony Jones St. died Sunday, April 26, 1998. A native of Americus, Mrs. Colbert was a daughter of the late Willie and Bennie Barner Harris. She was a member of Old Shady Grove Baptist Church, Americus, where she was a member of the Deaconess Board, attended Royston Grove Baptist Church and was a member of Eastern Star. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Old Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Bascoe Jackson and James Watts officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery, Americus. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Survivors include seven children, Carrie Lou Roebuck and Joseph James Colbert, both of Royston, Bennie Ruth Alfred, Willie Robert Colbert and Mike Arthur Colbert, all of Americus, and Charlie Colbert and "Little" Charles Colbert, both of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Lusane, Royston, and Nora Harris Hudson, Tampa, Fla.; 26 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Crumley Athens Kenneth Darrell Crumley, 56, of 2505 Danielsville Road died Monday, April 27, 1998. A native of Commerce, Mr. Crumley was a son of Francine Smallwood Crumley of Crawford and the late James Ralph Crumley. He was an Army veteran. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Athens Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jamie Doster officiating. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a sister, Linda Cowart, Crawford; five brothers, James Douglas Crumley, Hartwell, and Ralph Crumley, Davis Crumley, Lewis Crumley and Ricky Crumley, all of Gainesville; and nieces and nephews. Tolbert Toccoa Ruth Broome Tolbert, 73, of 315 Willowdale Drive died Tuesday, April 28, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Tolbert was a daughter of the late Henry Hampton and Elsie Rumsey Broome and was the widow of Frank Tolbert. She was a graduate of Piedmont College and received a B.A. degree in teaching. She was a teacher in the Stephens County school system for 34 years, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and First Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Revs. Calvin Forrester and Tom Lewis officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Sosby, Commerce; and two grandchildren, Heather Sosby and Chad Sosby, both of Commerce. Frances Verner Toccoa Frances Byrd Verner, 76, of West Currahee Street died Wednesday, April 29, 1998. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Verner was a daughter of the late Claude Patrick and Fannie Whiting Byrd. She was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church and a former employee of Toccoa Casket Co. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Whitlock Mortuary with the Revs. Kenneth Moon and Wade Lord officiating. Burial will be in Roselane Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Garland and Gloria Elrod, both of Toccoa; a brother, Harold Byrd, Martin; and four grandchildren. A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Ward was a daughter of the late Fred and Pearl Warren Halley. She was a seamstress at Hartwell Garment Manufacturing Co. for 40 years and was a member of Rock Branch Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday school class. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Rock Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Sayer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband, C. Herman Ward; two sons, Charles Ward, Elberton, and Joe Ward, Hartwell; two sisters, Helen Squires, Atlanta, and Frances Alexander, Elberton; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
