A native of Franklin County, Mr. Adams was a son of the late Charles Andrew and Jewell Herndon Adams. He was a graduate of Toccoa Falls Institute. He was a Mason, a Shriner and was Past Master of the Hebron Lodge. He was retired from General Motors BOP Doraville Plant after 35 years. He was a member and chairman of the Finance Committee of Prospect United Methodist Church. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Prospect United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Wilkes officiating. Burial will be in Allens United Methodist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Brock Adams; a daughter Janice Brown, Cornelia; two sisters, Sarah Lee Davis, Lilburn, and Louise Sewell, Lawrenceville; a brother, James Gilbert Adams, Carnesville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Barrow Monroe Charles Davis Barrow, 51, of 1014 Locklin Cemetery Road, formerly of Greene County, died Monday, April 19, 1999. A native of Greene County, Mr. Barrow was a son of the late Charles Barro and Annie Mae Davis. He was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church, Penfield. Survivors include his aunt, Susie Armstrong, Penfield; relatives and friends. Leon E. Carter Sr. Colbert Leon E. Carter Sr., 79, of 128 Peachtree died Thursday, April 29, 1999. A native of Madison County, Mr. Carter was a son of the late Thomas Gradu and Elizabeth Carter Latty and stepfather Eric Elroy Latty. He was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Carter Jr., and a brother, John "Bud" R. Carter. He was retired from Civil Service with the U.S. Air Force at Warner Robins Air Force Base after 27 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Colbert Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Men's Adult Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Colbert Lion's Club. A native of Thomas County, Mr. Dekle has resided in Athens since 1949. He was a son of the late U.T. and Clara Carter Dekle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Ocie Thomas Dekle. He had been a building contractor, managed real estate and had trained and shown Tennessee Walking Horses all of his adult life. He held positions on the board of directors for the Georgia Walking Horse Association and the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association. His horses won numerous state championships. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Memorial Park. She was a seamstress and was active in Merritts 4-H Home Demonstration Club.
