Adams Americus William M. "Bill" Adams, 86, of 2001 S. Lee St., died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999. A native of Erin, Tenn., Mr. Adams was born on July 1, 1912. He was a son of the late William Moore Adams Sr. and Harriett N. Abernathy Adams. He was a representative for International Shoe Co. and owned and operated a shoe store in South Carolina for several years. He was an active worker in Methodist churches all of his life and was a charter member of Pittman Park United Methodist Church, Statesboro, where he was a Sunday school teacher and chairman of the board. He serve as lay leader in several churches, and prior to his death, he returned his membership to the church of his childhood, Erin United Methodist Church, Erin, Tenn. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today at Martha McDonald Moore Memorial Chapel at Magnolia Manor with the Revs. John Brodess, Larry Roberts, Tom Davis and Jim Kinney officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Oak Hill Cemetery, Erin, Tenn., with the Rev. Brent Davis officiating. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Atkins Adams; a daughter and son-in-law, Sara Elizabeth Adams and Steve Rice, Athens; a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Bill Jackson-Adams, Savannah, and the Rev. Jenny Jackson-Adams, Richmond Hill; three grandchildren, Jim Jackson-Adams, Greensboro, N.C., Diane Dill, Newnan, and Elizabeth Dill, Valencia, Calif.; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Burton Athens Jenina Victoria "Miss Stuff" Burton, 16, of 109 Donna St. died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999. A native of Clarke County, Ms. Burton was a daughter of Stanley and Cassandra Burton. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Huggs was a son of Peccolia Dyer Huggs and the late Dave Huggs. He was employed at the UGA Continuing Education Center in the maintenance department for 33 years. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Hull, with the Rev. Kenneth Elder officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the New Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Bernice Huggs; a daughter, Donna Dorsey, Athens; four sons, David Huggs, Austin Huggs and Lindsey Huggs, all of Athens, and Braxton Huggs, Autuagaville, Ala.; two sisters, Marie Huggs and Lillie B. A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of the late R.T. and Catherine Saye Yarbrough and was the widow of T.R. Johnson Sr. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mable Johnson McMillan. She was a homemaker and was a member of Tuckston Methodist Church and the Stella Hancock Sunday School Class. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tuckston United Methodist Church Cemetery with Doug Thrasher officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Marguerite Johnson Neilson, Marietta; a son, T.R. Johnson Jr., Gainesville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons. He was a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
