A native of North Vernon, Ind., Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late Ivan and Ruby Ailes Gasper. She was a member of Chatahoochee Baptist Church in Flowery Branch and worked in data processing for a number of years. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Scott officiating. Survivors include her husband, Edward Powell; a niece and nephew, Cynthia and Steven Gasper, who were reared in the home; two brothers, Steven Gasper of Pendergrass and Jack Gasper of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Molly LaMarche of Mooresville, Ind., Ruby Sanders of Menlo Park, Calif., and Mary Ellen Gasper of Napa, Calif. Pallbearers will be Steven Gasper, Hubie Powell, Wendell Powell Jr., Chris Powell, Charles Powell and David Powell. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Floice Bryson, Anderson Road, Toccoa, and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today. Acree-Davis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and interment will be held in the Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery. Ivory Segers Elberton Ivory Gladys Sweeney Segers, 60, of 1530 Cummings Drive, Lot 33, died Sunday, July 4. A native of Raysal, W.Va., Mrs. Segers was the daughter of Willie and Lulabell Sweeney. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. The burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery, Elberton. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, John Segers; her four daughters, Alma Smith, Betty Edwards, and Lynn Hufstetler of Elberton and Judy Thompson of Easley, S.C.; her two sons, Roy Segers of Elberton and Willie Ray Boyd of Atlanta; five sisters, Bossie Forester, Ethel Mullins, Francis Lester, Kathern Day and Rosetta Vain, all of Raysal, W.Va.; three brothers, Henry Sweeney, Cleve Sweeney and Bennie Letcher Sweeney, all of Raysal, W.Va., and 14 grandchildren. Mr. Vaughan was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Smith and Mollie Thornton and husband of the late Watson Green Vaughan. Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Simmons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Clubb officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Survivors include his son, Watons Vaughan of Madison, 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7-9 p.m. at Simmons Funeral Home. Hazel Malone Athens Hazel Burgess Malone, 79, of Athens, died Monday, July 5. A native of Laurens County, Mrs. Malone was a daughter of the late Walter and Bessie Burgess and widow of the late Ira Vedder Malone Jr. She was a member of Watkinsville First Baptist Church. Before retirement, she was an extension agent for the University of Georgia. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at West View Cemetery in Monticello. Survivors include her sister, Edna B. Kilgo of Augusta; brother, Cecil Burgess of Dublin; and nieces and nephew, JoAnn Padgett of Cochran, Beverly Cannon of Macon and Don Kilgo of Athens. A native of Lexington, Va., Mrs. Tardy was the daughter of the late Ernest Spottswood and Sally Gillick Nuckols, and the widow of Harry James Tardy. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Harrison Funeral Home in Lexington, Va. Burial will be in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. Survivors include a son, James Tardy of Athens; brother, Richard S. Nuckols of Lexington, Va.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Luther Jones Woodville Luther Jones, 75, of 1520 North Dogwood Road died Friday, July 2. A native of Greene County, Mr. Jones was the son of the late Edgar and Sallie Jones. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church and retired from the Greene County Board of Education after many years of dedicated service. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Baptist Church, with the Revs. William Smith, John Smith and B. Benford officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include two sisters-in-law; five nieces; six nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. A native of Athens, Mr. Wilson was the widower of Obie W. Wilson and was a mason. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bernstein Chapel. The burial will at Evergreen Memorial Part in Athens. She was a member of the Toccoa Creek Baptist Church, a member of the Garden Club, a 4-H leader and a homemaker. Mrs. Hunter had library duties with the Fulton County Library and also held a library position with the 3rd Army, the 3rd Air Force, and ended her career as the chief librarian for the Tactical Air Force. She also had library duties with the Business and Professional Women's Organization in Washington, D.C., and served as a library specialist with the Athens Regional Library. Survivors include a brother, Malcolm O. Morton, Jefferson; sisters-in-law, Lucille Morton, Augusta and Jeanette Morton Barnes, Greensboro, N.C.; seven nieces and three nephews. She played the piano for 40 years, taught Sunday school and was a homemaker.
