A native of Habersham County, Mr. Charles was a son of the late Robert Filmon Charles Sr. and Ruby Taylor Charles. He retired from the Bank of Toccoa with 33 years and continued to work part time after retirement, was a member of Hill Street Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4346, past president of Civitan Club, a participant in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life as a cancer survivor, and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during the Korean Conflict. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Hal Cason and Jerrell Beaty officiating. Burial will be in Roselane Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Charles Vickers, Cleveland, Jennifer Charles Austin, Cornelia, and Evan Charles, Cumming; three sons, Dale Charles and Dennis Charles, both of Toccoa, and David Charles, Seneca, S.C.; a sister, Mary Lou Martin, Clarkesville; four brothers, Dan Charles, Eastanollee, Byard Charles, Decatur, Fred Charles, Easley, S.C., and Gary Charles, Turnerville; an uncle, Wayner Charles, Demorest; and six grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present officers and employees of the Bank of Toccoa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at the mortuary. Charles W. Granner Jr. Simpsonville, S.C. Charles W. Granner Jr., 78, of 508 Two Gait Lane died Monday, March 1, 1999. Born August 10, 1920 in Wichita, Kan., Mr. Granner was a son of the late Charles W. and Emma Clements Granner. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Stryker and Jeanne Osborne; and two brothers, Robert Clements Granner and H. Theadore Granner. He attended Wichita University and was a member of the Webster Fraternity. He was a first lieutenant pilot in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 808 of Fort Thomas, Ky. He was a past president of the Kentucky Drug Travelers Association and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was connected with Johnson and Johnson, Mills Hospital Supplies, Drug Master and retired from Delta Foremost Chemicals. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Asheville, N.C. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Forest Chapel United Methodist Church, 680 W. Sharon Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, with the Rev. Herman Emmert officiating. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Hix was a daughter of the late J.G. and Nettie Hart Yarbrough. She was a member of Hull Baptist Church. "Andy" LeCroy, 54, of 7350 Pine Tree Road died Thursday, March 4, 1999. Mr. LeCroy was a son of Claudine McDonough of Toccoa and the late Garvin LeCroy. He had lived most of his life in Stephens County, was a truck driver for the past 20 years, was employed by AIC of West Union, S.C., and a former employee of Toccoa Casket Co. and Hemphill Trucking. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Richard Ivester officiating. Burial will be in Roselane Cemetery. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Patton was a a son of the late Phil and Sally Patton. He was retired from Georgia Power after 39 years and a member of Center Methodist Church, Stephens.
