Tanksley Jasper Dolly Chastain Tanksley, 50, formerly of White County, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999. A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Tanksley was a daughter of Cora Belle Poole Chastain, Gainesville, and the late Elmer Chastain, and was preceded in death by a son, Royce Hill. She was a heavy equipment operator for Densmore Grading and was of the Baptist faith. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. L.G. Howard officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband, Doug Tanksley; two daughters, Tammy Ellis, Norfolk, Va., and Valerie Craver, Lula; a step-daughter, Amy Tanksley and a step-son, Chad Tanksley, both of Mount Airy; four sisters, Sue Dixon, Linda Miller and Judy Grindle, all of Lula, and Betty Allen, Demorest; and four grandchildren. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Strickland was a son of Golden Williamson Strickland and the late Robert Strickland. He worked for Russell Research Center in Athens, was retired from the Air Force, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, for which he received the Bronze Star. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown's Funeral Home, Danielsville. Burial will be in Erastus Church Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Steven Strickland, Colbert, and David Strickland, Avondale Estates; a brother, William Strickland, Gastonia, N.C.; and two grandchildren. A native of Carroll County, Ga., he was a son of the late Charlie F. and Lottie Sewell Owens. He was employed with Holox Welding Supplies, Athens. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was of the Baptist faith. He had lived in Athens for about eight years. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy Owens, Bobby Owens, Ronald Owens and Junior Owens. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home, Albany. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Albany.
