He was retired from Chicopee Manufacturing Company with 30 years of service and was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and was a member of Lamar Christian Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lamar Christian Church with the Revs. Mike Robertson, Roy Rogers and Tommy Wilkinson officiating. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elsa Langford Williams. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy and as a Major in the U.S. Air Force. A University of Georgia business graduate and alumni, he retired from Cotton State Insurance Company and for the past nine years was employed at Emory University Woodruff P.E. Center. He was a lifetime member and supporter of the Athens YMCA and was a member of Beech Haven Baptist Church.
