Services will be 11 a.m. today at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Herman Ledford officiating. Burial will be in Carl Baptist Church cemetery. Irene B. Dowdy Jefferson Irene Barrett Dowdy, 77, of 1988 Athens Highway died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Dowdy was a daughter of the late Charlie and Belle Brock Barrett. She was a homemaker and was a member of Bethany Methodist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Methodist Church with the Revs. Hulon Hill and Jesse Mealor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Survivors include her husband, R.J. "Jett" Dowdy; three daughters, Evelyn Dowdy, Barbara Wilkes and Annie Lou Duke, all of Jefferson; a sister, Eva Humphries, Hull; a brother, Charlie Barrett, Smyrna; and a grandchild. Florence L. Ellerson Dahlonega Florence L. Ellerson, 67, of 361 N. Hall Road died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999. A native of Hinesville, Mrs. Ellerson was the widow of Willie Carroll Ellerson. She was a graduate of Valdosta State College and was a former elementary school teacher. She was a homemaker and was a member of Dahlonega United Methodist Church. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. today at Dahlonega United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gerry M. Davis officiating. At her request, Mrs. Ellerson was cremated and graveside services for the burial of the cremains will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Floral Memory Gardens, Albany. Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Pfieffer, Dahlonega; a son, James Michael Ellerson, Athens; a sister, Mary Edna Biggs, Hinesville; and nieces and nephews. Clencie Farmer Madison Clencie Farmer, 85, of 1580 Aqua Road died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999. A native of Troup County, Mr. Farmer was a son of the late Roy Farmer and Ella Scott. He was a truck driver. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Franklin C. Ferguson Athens The Rev. Franklin Cole Ferguson, 64, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999. A native of Nashville, Tenn., the Rev. Ferguson was a son of the late Rev. John Lambeth Ferguson II and Christina Franklin Ferguson. He was a graduate of Duncan Preparatory School and Vanderbilt University, Nashville. He received theological degrees from Harvard Divinity School, Cambridge, Mass., and St. Luke's School of Theology, Sewanee, Tenn. He was Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Athens, from 1974 until 1987, Rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Grace Episcopal Church, Paris, Tenn. He served on the Commission on Ministry and as a Canonical Examiner in New Testament at the Episcopal Dioceses of Tennessee and Atlanta. He was the author of "A Pilgrimage in Faith," published by Morehouse Publishing, New York, and "The Eternal Rhythm," Agee Publishing, Athens. He was a composer of music for use with the liturgy, "Lift Up Your Hearts," Music City Workshop, Nashville, Tenn. While minister of First Methodist, Bell Buckle, Tenn., he was a teacher of the Bible and Latin. He was the founder of the First Hospice in Athens and of the Parkinson's Support Group, Athens. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with the Revs. Frank K. Allen ("Bishop of Atlanta"), Eddie Ard and Milner Ball officiating. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Adams Ferguson; a daughter, the Rev. Ruth Ephgrave Ferguson, Olney, Md.; two sons, Luke Franklin Ferguson, Athens, and Benjamin Adams Ferguson, Seattle, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Laura Watkin Ferguson, Athens; a son-in-law, Samuel Alexander Sommers III, Onley, Md.; a sister, Alice F. A native of Preston, N.Y., Mr. Kenyon was a son of the late Linn R. and Elvira E. Franklin Kenyon and was the widower of Marjory E. Fox. He was a mechanic and a U.S. Army veteran. Nan Wallace Robbins Athens Nan Wallace Robbins, 91, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999. A native of Anderson, S.C., Mrs. Robbins was a daughter of the late Claude and Nina Slater Wallace and was the widow of Paul Harold Robbins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Wallace and Clifton Wallace. She was a retired registered nurse and worked many years for Athens Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Athens Business Girls Club and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She was a former resident of Lanier Gardens and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Grady Wigley officiating. Survivors include a sister, Ruby Gambrell, Belton, S.C.; two nieces, Nancy G.
