Bishop Jr. Atlanta The Rev. Clarence Thomas Bishop Jr., 50, of 1588 Boulevard Lorraine, died Sunday, March 7, 1999. A native of Athens, Mr. Bishop was a son of Maggie Mathis Bishop and the late Clarence T. Bishop Sr. He was preceded in death by his adopted father (grandfather), the Rev. N. Mathis. He was the former pastor of Gholston Baptist Church, Comer, Mount Zion Baptist Church, Toccoa, Springfield Baptist Church, Athens, and Oak Hill Baptist Church, Watkinsville. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Mack officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Gail Freeman Bishop, Athens; his adopted mother (grandmother), Minnie Belle Mathis, Atlanta; three sisters, Cynthia Grasham, Newport News, Va., Linda Grasham, Athens, and Lynn Mathis, South Carolina; and a brother, Albert Smith, Atlanta. Alma Jones Byrd Cornelia Alam Jones Byrd, 93, of 338 Gallaway St., died Monday, March 8, 1999. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Byrd was a daughter of the late Andy and Jamie Jordan Jones and was the widow of Garland Byrd. She was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. at Webbs Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Hill officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Banks Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include two children, Genelle Rylee, Homer, and Jones Byrd, Cornelia; two sisters, Gladys Pruitt, Homer, and Ethel Jordan, Lula; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce. Olivia G. Clark Mount Airy Olivia Garrett Clark, 85, died Sunday, March 7, 1999. A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Clark was a daughter of the late William Perry and Florence Ann Durham Garrett and was the widower of Andrew J. Clark. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ethel Sanders. She was a homemaker and was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school classes. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Welcome Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Ryals officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include five daughters, Evonne Tatum, Batesville, Ann Harmon, Stovall, Barbara Standridge, Cleveland, Joy Swanson, Mount Airy, and Sybil Chumney, Phenix City, Ala.; a son, W.J. Woodrow Gaddis Hoschton Woodrow Gaddis, 79, of Jackson Trail Road, died Sunday, March 7, 1999. Mr. Gaddis was retired from Southern Waistband and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A native of Erwin, Tenn., Mrs. Hughes was a daughter of the late Knox and Sapharane Ballife Hughes and was the widow of Fred Hughes. She was employed by Toccoa Garment Company and was a member of Toccoa Church of God. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Rafala officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Hughes and Gary Hughes, both of Toccoa; three children; and two great-grandchildren. Charles Jackson Monroe Charles Jackson, 66, died Sunday, March 7, 1999. A native of Walton County, Mr. Jackson was a son of the late John Nobel Jackson and Maudie Bell Wofford Jackson. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs. W.C. Tribble and Brant Callaway officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery. A native of Hillsboro, Kansas, Mr. Loewen was a son of the late Peter and Katharina Loewen. He was an engineer who worked in Texas, Brazil and Great Britain, before retiring in Athens. He was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church and serves on the board of the Clarke Community Federal Credit Union. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Survivors include his wife, Tessibel Loewen; five children, Karin Haag, Athens, Jan Loewen, Darmstadt, Germany, Nancy Loewen, San Francisco, Calif., Evet Loewen, San Jose, Calif., and Collin Loewen, Houston, Texas; and seven granddaughters. A native of Toccoa, Mrs. Moore was a daughter of the late Joe and Emily Norton Moore Harkness. She was employed as a housing inspector for the City of Atlanta. A native of Crisp County, Mrs. Southerland was a daughter of the late Charles Henry Dinkins and Lucy Jackson Dinkins and was the widow of Thomas J. Southerland. She was a retired teacher and librarian from Tift County Elementary School and was a member of First Baptist Church. Graveside services were Monday at Oakridge Cemetery with the Rev. W.
