A native of Habersham County, Mrs. Carter was a daughter of the late Alford M. and Cordelia Thomas Burrell and was the widow of Jim Carter. She was a member of Amy's Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Whitfield Funeral Home, Baldwin, with the Rev. J.R. Elrod officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Survivors include a daughter, Susan C. Crawford, Denham Springs, La.; two sons, Jerry Carter, Clarkesville, and Ken Carter, Cornelia; two sisters, Jeanette Guffey, Pendleton, S.C., and Annie Mae Hamrick, Shelby, N.C.; a brother, Bill Burrell, Greenville, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Claud E. Greenway Royston Claud E. Greenway, 74, of 2295 Georgia Highway 17 died Friday, May 7, 1999. A native of Clarke County, Mr. Greenway was a son of the late Lillie Mae Sanders Greenway Knowles and Clifford I. Greenway. He was co-owner and operator of Andreas Fashion Shop, and was a retired pipefitter. He was a 50-year member of Pipefitters Association Local Union 669, a charter member of Royston-Franklin Springs Rotary Club, and was a member of Royston First United Methodist Church. He was a member of Royston Masonic Lodge 52, was a York Rite Shriner, and was a member of Fred E. Lee Chapter 86 of Royal Arch Masons Grand Chapter of Georgia, Knights Templar Commandry Lodge 53 of Toccoa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a past member of the Royston City Council. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery, Royston, with the Rev. Bobby Anthony officiating. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Randall Phillips Greenway; a son, Claude R. Greenway, Royston; a daughter, Suzanne Manley, Lawrenceville; a brother, Rowland Knowles, Huntsville, Ala.; four sisters, Elta Mae Santos, Bowman, Lillie Maude Webster, Jacksonville, Fla., Mary Jo Marett, Hartwell, and Wynette Almond, Roebuck, S.C.; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jerry Evans, Gerald Carey, Woodrow King, Garnett Manley, Don Sowders, Wayne Varner, and Gary Mercer. Nell Hilley McCoy, 81, of 7200 Pheasant Cove, Oklahoma City, Okla., wife of the late Pierce E. "Mac" McCoy (formerly associated with the Lucas & Jenkins & Georgia Theater Company) died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, after an extended illness. She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Okla. Born in Athens May 30, 1917, Nell was the daughter and the last of the immediate family sired by the late Wofford Wiley Hilley and his wife, the late Leila Bennett Hilley, was a sister to the late Hazel Hilley Seybt, the late Mildred Hilley Thompson, the late William Wofford Hilley (Col. U.S. Army Ret.), all of Greenville, S.C., and the late Cecil Goss Hilley of Anderson, S.C.. Prior to her Oklahoma address, Mrs. McCoy spent her married life in Athens, Augusta, and Atlanta. Survivors include two sons, Douglas Pierce McCoy of Greenville, S.C., and Donald Eugene McCoy of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Laurie McCoy Plank, and great-grandson, Austin Alan Plank, both of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Donald (Evelyn Hulett) McCoy, Oklahoma City, Okla; a grandson-in-law, Bret Plank, Seattle, Wash.; two nieces, Jean "Skippy" Seybt Bryson and Alicia Hilley, both of Greenville, S.C.; and a nephew, Ted. M. Thompson, Greenville, S.C. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 10, 1999, at Bridges Funeral Home with the Rev. Wesley Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Carlton McGill Tignall Carlton McGill, 75, of 7377 Danburg Road died Saturday, May 8, 1999. A native of Lincoln County, Mr. McGill was a son of the late William Frederick and Louise Harper McGill. He lived most of his life in Danburg and was retired from Bennett Implement. He was an army veteran of World War II, was wounded in Germany in 1945, and received a Purple Heart. He was a 40-year Masonite, was 5-time Past Master at Hiram Lodge 51, was secretary of the Lodge for 18 years, and was Past High Priest of the Royal Arch Convention. He was a Shriner since 1965, was past president of the Granite Center Shriner Club, and was a past Ambassador of the Yaarab Temple in Atlanta. He was past director of Sunday School at Beulah Baptist Church, was a deacon, and attended Sunday School for 12 years without missing a Sunday. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Beulah Baptist Church, Tignall, with the Revs. Jim Edwards and Skip Padgett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include two sisters, Mary W. Gunter and Myrtle Gunter, both of Danburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be LeRoy Bufford, Sanders Rhodes, Joe Landrum, Carl Bailey, Carl Bailey Jr., and James Harper. Honorary pallbearers will be Masons and Shriners.
