Baldwin Madison Asbury Quillian Baldwin, 86, of 860 S. Main St., died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999. A native of Morgan County, Mr. Baldwin was a son of the late William Whitfield Baldwin and Sarah Ola Quillian. He was a retired pharmacist and was a member of Masonic Lodge 376 and the Kiwanis Club for over 50 years. He was a member of the State Examining Board of Pharmacy and of Gridiron at the University of Georgia. He was a member of Madison First United Methodist Church and was secretary of the board of Drugs Mutual Inc. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Madison First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Kerr officiating. Burial will be in Madison City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Thrasher Baldwin; a daughter, Anne Satterfield, Madison; two sons, Asbury, Quillian Baldwin Jr., La Grange, and Barton Whitfield Baldwin, Mount Olive, N.C.; four sisters, Mrs. R. Turnell, Mrs. W. Wise, and Mrs. J.D. Harris, all of Madison, and Mrs. B. Harris, Rome; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Madison First United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. The family will receive friends at the residence. Simmons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lisha Hill Athens Lisha Hill, 36, of 192 Parkview Extension, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999. A native of Clarke County, Ms. Hill was a daughter of Sarah Hill of Athens. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fork Bethel Baptist Church, Lexington, with the Rev. Rufus Whitlock officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a daughter, Tabitha Hill, Athens; two sisters, Shelia Hill and Wynell Hill, both of Athens; a brother, Wendell Hill, Sparta; nieces and nephews. Jackson-McWhorter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Virginia Steadman Kidd Bogart Virginia Steadman Kidd, age 68, of 1140 St. Andrews Drive, died August 7. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Kidd was the daughter of the late Alexander Hamilton and Ruth Amason Steadman. She was retired from Williams and Co. in Athens after more than 30 years service and was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Prince Ave. Baptist Church. Revs. Bill Ricketts and Miller Huckabee will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Hugh Logan, Claude Williams, Griffin Moody, Marvin Doster, John Hannay and Glen Harbin. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West. Joe E. Powers Eatonton Joe E. Powers, 61, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Powers was a son of the late Emory and Mary Nell Andrews Powers. He was a maintenance supervisor with Harrison Poultry in Bethlehem and was a U.S. Navy veteran. The remains were cremated and no service will be held. Survivors include his wife, Bertha Fielding Powers; two daughters, Teresa P. Anglin, Jefferson, and Patty Jo Sellers, Commerce; a son, Joe Powers Jr., Watkinsville; a stepdaughter, Cathy Ralston, Farmington; two sisters, Marilyn P. Vaughn, Merritts Island, Fla., and Billie K. Ray St. Simons Island Frances Evelyn Stokely Ray, formerly of Athens, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999. A native of Lexington, Mrs. Ray was a resident of Mountain Lakes, N.J., from 1960-1990, where she was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church. She had resided on St. Simons Island since 1990 and attended Christ Episcopal Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Crawford City Cemetery, Crawford. Survivors include her husband, William Gaines Ray; a daughter, Linda Sue Barnish, Mount Pleasant, S.C.; a sister, Hazel S. St. John, Union City; a brother, Robert S. A native of Warren County, Mrs. Shelton was a daughter of the late Thomas Moats and Mary Adams and was the widow of Leonard Shelton. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Crawfordville Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Autry officiating. Burial will be in Robinson Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Margie Shelton Edwards, Greensboro; three sons, Thomas Shelton, Fairfax, Va., Jackie Shelton, Greensboro, and James Shelton, Crawfordville; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren. A native of Athens, Brittney was a daughter of John Zak of Sandgate, Vt., and Kimberley Shumake Logan and Lindey Logan of Eatonton. She was a student at Timothy Elementary School last year and was to attend Putnam County Middle School this year. She was a member of the Athens Gymnastics Club and attended Moons Grove Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moons Grove Baptist Church, Hull, with the Revs. Dan Fuller and Tony Lee officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
