Moses Lexington George T. Moses, 83, of 71 Old Fairground Road died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Moses was preceded in death by a daughter, Fannie L. Moses. He was a deacon at Oconee Baptist Church. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Oconee Baptist Church with the Rev. Hoyt Smith officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ada Mitchell Moses; four daughters, Gladys Waller, Fairborn, Ohio, Lena Johnson, Calhoun Falls, S.C., Shirley Moses, Lexington, and Marinda Turner, Windermere, Fla.; a son, Preston Moses, Athens; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A native of Athens, Mrs. Barrow-Wilbert was a daughter of Della S. Thomas of Athens and the late Jermone Thomas. A native of Madison County, Mr. Burroughs lived in Clarke County most of his life. He was the son of the late Thomas A. and Clara Spratlin Burroughs. His first wife, Hazel Whitehead Burroughs and son, Danny Burroughs, preceded him in death. He was a retired brick mason, a World War II Army Veteran, and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. LEADSTORIES Story last updated at 8:34 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 1999 Morton Strahan Hodgson Jr. Melbourne, Fla. Morton Strahan Hodgson, Jr., 87, died December 8, 1999 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. Mr. Hodgson was born August 2, 1912, in Athens, Georgia, to Morton Strahan Hodgson and Lydia Hutchins Hodgson. He received both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Georgia and was a life-long supporter of that institution. He was with the Coca-Cola Company from 1934 until 1972 and was instrumental in the company's growth in France, Mexico, South American and the United States. From 1968 to 1972, he was President of Coca-Cola of California and President of Coca-Cola, U.S.A. In 1974, he was persuaded to rejoin the company, and he became President of Coca-Cola of Japan, for three years, after which time he retired. He spent as much time as possible at his home in Highlands, North Carolina, and was an avid golfer. He was described by many as the most courtly man they had ever met. He was a member of the Piedmont Driving Club, Peachtree Golf Club, Capital City Club, Wildcat Cliffs Country Club of Highlands, Cypress Point Country Club, and the Pacific Union Club of San Francisco. His charities were many and varied, and he was a member of The Church of The Good Shepherd Episcopal Church of Cashiers, North Carolina. Mr. Hodgson was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Alice (Patsy) Stewart Spalding Hodgson in 1986. He is survived by his wife Roberta Murrah Hodgson of Atlanta, a daughter, Patricia Stewart Hodgson of Hilton Head Island, a son, Morton Strahan Hodgson III of Atlanta, a daughter, Lydia Alice Hodgson of Asheville, a sister, Nell Woodruff Hodgson Watt of Atlanta, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Patterson's Spring Hill at ten o'clock on Saturday, December 11, and burial will be at the family plot in Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens, Georgia at 2 PM.
