Willie Appling Athens Willie Appling, 95, of 115 Angus Land died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999. A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Appling was a son of the late Willie B. Appling and Susie Nowell Appling. Benson, 68, of 170 Woodhaven Ridge died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999. A native of Richmond County, Mrs. Benson was a daughter of the late Johnson L. and Sally Ford Murphy. She served as choir director at Braxton Baptist Church for 30 years, and was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, the choir, and the Jewel Sunday School Class.
